They've given her enough work in the last two years to shut her up.

Something not adding up about it. She obviously had a beef with someone and i think there is more to the story than what we are hearing.

Is there an Echo Island in here?

Why doesnt she just leave her job if she hates it that much? Nobody would miss her. She has had run ins and complaints about a few people and procedures over the years and literally nobody who worked with her has a good word to say about her.

Id be long gone if i had that many issues.

Was she not fired over the bullying allegations made against her?

It's a bloody disgrace she can withdraw it, it either happened or it didn't, leaves a dark cloud over many male suspects working in RTE.

I would say they brown enveloped her ,after all money is a no issue subject in RTE.

    She claims no compensation though..

she’s an odd one… been with rte for twenty plus years, almost always bits and pieces rolls that came and went in no time..you would expect if she was any use or properly regarded she’d have found a niche and landed a show of her own. Decades of time and exposure to maximise her ability…

could never take to her though, say she’d give an aspirin a headache the way she goes on..…I wouldn’t imagine ‘listening’ wouldn’t be a strength of hers.

An interview in 2016 basically slagging her employer while trying to big herself up.

    Totally agree.

Lodge a sexual harassment complaint, let it run for a few years then drop it at the last minute.

Something not right. Surely if it was a genuine harassment, she would follow it through to the end?

Unless of course, it wasn't really sexual harassment in the first place and she was just using it to scare rte?

A quiet settlement perhaps? Very strange nonetheless

alleging discrimination by way of harassment during July 2019 and subsequent victimisation.

what was she working on at the time?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,717 ✭✭✭Hangdogroad

She wasn't fired, she did semi disappear for a year or so after the bullying allegations but then she she was back co presenting the All Ireland Talent Show, a pretty high profile gig.

is it not red heads who are supposed to be bullied? she has it all wrong.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,502 ✭✭✭✭Sleepy

She must have some serious dirt on senior management in RTE (or have a very good friend there)... in any other business she'd have been out the door with her P45.

RTE staffers are basically the same as civil servants, almost impossible to fire unless they do something very bad, like yerman who got caught red-handed trying to meet a 13yo for sex, they could fire him after he pleaded guilty.

I think she proves that trolls don't just exist online!

I'd have thought that the bullying incidents would have been enough unless one had other protection, even in the public sector!

she had an article a few years back, saying to her kids she wouldn't have married their father as he couldnt speak irish...id say shes a delight to be around

    RTE storm in a teacup.

Let me translate that to Irish so I can appear sophisticated, complex, deep, cultured, entitled ...

    Google translate ...

    "stoirm i cupán tae"

Don't know her and have never even met her.... but she comes accross as a dose 👹

I expect there was some sort of mediation process.

Good to see it sorted without rancour.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,137 ✭✭✭hamburgham

Whoever she accused had the stress of that hanging over him for a couple of years.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,133 ✭✭✭bcklschaps

Does the bould Blaitnaid have some dirt on someone high up in RTE and is leveraging it to keep her in plumb gigs??

This deal might be a gagging order of some sort and you can bet there was a pay-off, maybe not money per sae, but perhaps first refusal on all high profile presenting gigs for the foreseeable etc.

    * This is complete supposition, but if we start to see a lot more of Blathnaid on RTE then it will have been proven

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,395 ✭✭✭✭Furze99

She's a gaeilgeoir and a woman plain & simple - free pass on all matters to do with RTE.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,211 ✭✭✭✭ILoveYourVibes

How many other TV stations do we have?

This is not whether the harassment happened or not. It did. This was about if RTE discriminated against her after she spoke up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 910 ✭✭✭mazdamiatamx5

By that argument, Blathnaid's alleged bullying of a former female co-presenter also happened, and cannot be questioned.

How many other TV stations do we have?

well... one that she should fit into nicely, and another network with 3 or 4 stations, so...
