De Facto Visa Application - Student visa expiring before approval

    Hi there,

I have done alot of research online but cannot find something that fits our exact situation. Wondering if anyone has some experience in this matter?

We are looking to apply for the de-facto visa. We meet all the criteria. My gf is living in Ireland on a student visa after being on a language visa previously. However, the time to a decision on the de-facto visa is 6 months, but her permission expires in December (likely approval in March 2023). Does anyone have any knowledge on what will happen between December and March?

I know if your partner is outside the country, they apply for a long stay visa D, so they can come here while awaiting the INS decision. But what happens if your partner is here already but their visa will be expired by the time a decision is made?

    Thanks!
