I get the discount built into the bill from Electric Ireland. If I change supplier what do I need to do to get the refund as they don't apply the household package discount?

Hmm I’m not sure. I would have thought a letter to social welfare with details of your new provider. However I sent a letter about something else at the beginning of the summer and it hasn’t been processed yet so I don’t know would you get your money back for the period of time you were sitting in the backlog. I’d give them a call and ask. I’m with prepaypower, I get paid into my bank account first Tuesday of the month. I’ve never even with electric Ireland though so it’s never been directly applied to my bill. Best of luck though with it.

    Hi OP

My mother's electricity account was with EI for years, and her benefits deducted automatically. In May she switched provider, and noticed in July that the deduction wasn't applied. So, she sent an email to householdbenefits@welfare.ie outlining the issue. Got a phone call two weeks later asking to confirm her bank account details, and an email confirming that future payments and any arrears would be paid into her account.

Roll on the first Tuesday in August, payments straight into her bank.
