Channel 4 App, Smart TV

Is there any way to get this app on my LG Smart TV. I've tried to cast it from my Chromebook using a converter and HDMI cable. But the converter cable gets very hot and starts to smell. Also, it's so fiddley trying to set it up sometimes it doesn't want to move across onto the TV screen.

Their LG app only works in the UK.

If you have a Chromecast device, that should work.

The easiest way to get the app on your tv is with a Firestick. I have no idea why they're so restrictive with it.

The Chromecast device will connect directly to Channel 4's servers, so the picture does not need to be sent through your cable/convertor. This might give a better picture/sound than when you are mirroring the screen of another device.

Try changing you geo location to UK.. download the app then change your location back..you may need to reset channels.

U can buy a Nowtv stick in Powercity at the moment for €9.95. It has the All4 app on it. Might be also available in other stores at that price.

I tried that and it only lasted an hour or so as they must have a way of detecting it.

I have it on mine and it works perfect, no VPN required.

Same here, I have a LG tv and all4 app works fine with no need for VPN. It is the on demand stuff only though as I believe the live channels are geo blocked.

Live channels are geoblocked on All4 in Ireland even on the apps that are officially available here. Not sure why this is but suspect it might be due to cable company agreements.

I also have it working on the 4k version, however that appears to be no longer on sale, mine doesn't have the Prime, Disney, Netflix and Amazon buttons on the remote but otherwise looks the same spec...

Does the C4 app cut out after a while as this seems to be an issue due to geo location.

No works perfect, I was using it last night to watch something for over an hour with no cut out. There are ads every 15 mins or so, these are Irish targetted ads.

Is your TV's software up to date? Also are you trying to run the latest version of the all4 app?

Other than that I guess for some strange reason LG are not supporting the app on certain TV models.

I set up my LG tv with UK for broadcasting and services, All4 was available, but no Irish apps. Set up as UK for broadcasting Freesat is an option and with Ireland as services, RTE Player and TG4 players are available

This is definitely working now on Lg tv with a uk postcode to register. Previously it gave an error and would not work.

I wonder why its not geo locked like itv hub, iPlayer and My5 are?

Channel 4 buy (almost) all of their rights for Ireland, have for the guts of twenty years now. With the exception of some acquisitions and sports.
