It's shocking + 8% increase on the standing charge, we're being screwed on rental and VAT + Carbon tax and all in the worst energy crisis we're ever seen generated solely by the E.U and only it's half a billion inhabits will suffer dearly this winter because of it with not only electricity but Petrol and Diesel + heating costs soaring while these bureaucrats get paid by the taxpayer driven around in taxpayer transport and can claim for all sorts of expensed while E.U citizens get screwed. The needs of the many out weigh the needs of the few, ok might sound harsh but the needs of half a billion taxpayers should come before 40 odd million who are not even in the E.U.

We signed up in January and have still some credit left from the Airtricity offer so so far in 2022 we haven't paid for electricity but I get a good bit of electricity from the work charge point. I'd say this is the last bill where we have to pay nothing.

Does any electricity provider pay for sending solar PV to the grid ? or suppose it would be added as credit once a year ? shame on the Government for still not providing a guaranteed FIT.

Those 40 million may not be EU citizens, but they are human beings. I'm okay with paying extra for my energy if it contributes to making Russia suffer and maybe ending the suffering of the people of Ukraine sooner. Easy for me to say that as I can afford it, as I suspect so can you. It's people who are less well of that concern me and I hope government put schemes in place to help those. Absolutely heart breaking to think of people having to choose between food and heat.

Make Russia suffer ? I bet you didn't say that about the U.S or U.K when they invaded Iraq. ? or anywhere else. Why can't we get Billions of Euro's a year from the British for still occupying 6 Counties in Ireland ?

Demonising Russia when the U.S and U.K are even bigger aggressors in the World is a complete and utter joke, not to mention meddling in foreign politics and it was only a few years ago where Biden and his Democrat scum party had said "they only way to get to Russia is through Ukraine" this has been planned and while I do not like Ukrainians suffering neither do I want E.U/Irish people suffering hardship, hardly being able to do anything other than work to pay energy and mortgage and not work to live, Irish People have their own problems and on top of the worst energy costs is the worst housing and rent crisis then thousands of Ukrainians march in and get all sorts handed to them for free. Shocking.

Whatever the E.U did or didn't do won't stop Russia selling Gas and Oil, when you have no energy of your own or very little it's a bit stupid to have it cut off or have supplies substantially reduced, it's fine for the U.S who have all the Oil and Gas they want but Biden chose to shut it down and import it and sell their best crude reserves to China while they're experiencing the highest energy costs on record too.

See the point is that while you will gladly pay there are many who are already struggling, many families will have to choose between heat, gas and food so I hope you're fine for E.U citizens and Irish Families to struggle, these unfortunates don't have the choice but to pay or get cut off and on top of that pay mortgages while you and I can pay the increases many can not.

Yes, while you and I can afford these extra price hikes I'd love you to say tuff shite to all those families out there struggling to put food on the table and head their homes and drive their kids around + pay extortionate mortgages because they can't buy an affordable home any more.

It's all well and good for many of us here who have nothing more to worry about only poor software from VW or what our next EV will be but I tell you one thing, if you or many here had to struggle to pay bills, energy while paying a mortgage/rent etc you'd sing a different tune.

CRU has let the market decide on FIT rates. to be paid from feb 22.

    1 Flogas €0.20

    2 Bord Gáis €0.185

    3 Energia €0.18

    4 SSE Airtricity €0.14

    4 Electric Ireland €0.14

    6 Pinergy €0.135

SSE to be paid twice a year afaik, EI will be on each bill, None of the rest have said, First payment to be in Autumn.

Non Smart meter customers to get a calculated KWH based on their MEC (export capacity, basically your inverter size). Refuse smart meter, you stop getting a FIT, Nobody on a Day/Night tariff has been offered a smart meter yet.

to get a smart meter while on a day night tariff, this has to be prearranged with your supplier, so when your meter is switched you can be put on the correct smart meter tariff (so basically they cant just come change your meter and move you to a 24 hr tariff)

I'm with BG(21.34c-10.56c)till the end of December, not too bad will stick it out and see what happens personally.running an ev as well and doing more stuff night-rate it's working out ok,we'll see what happens?🤔

Soni have a smart meter but when I put in my MPRN on the energia website it says my meter can't avail of their day night rate.

What's that about? Surely I don't need a day night meter if I already have a smart meter??

    WTF is FIT?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,827 ✭✭✭✭CoBo55

Yes you do, it has been mentioned several times on this thread, no provider will use a smart meter as a d/n meter. Sounds ridiculous but that's the way it is.

Feed in tariff. Anyone with solar has excess exported to the grid. From February of this year suppliers will be paying customers for their exports, as they should. Electric Ireland for example pay 14c/kWh and will credit people at the end of the year. From then on it will be off each bill.

People with smart meters will have accurate measurements but those with standard meters will have an estimate. Probably feck all as punishment for not having a smart meter!

We're currently on the Energia 24h -41% rate, 19.64c. Am debating between switching to BG EV or Energia EV plans. We have two EVs.

BG EV has the better restricted rate (2-5am), which would prob cover our excess EV charging needs through the winter but is not fixed (like Energia) and so will def increase. Although BG will offer FiT (we have a 8kW array, exporting ~1.3kW per annum based on the first few months usage).

The question I have is - as i understand it the Energia EV deal is only available on Day/Night meter and so metered FiT is not available in that case (smart meter only). @graememk am I right in my understanding that I could request a smart meter from Energia for the EV plan? Im wonder then does that allow metered FiT to be part of their EV plan?

I know I can just call them to clarify but you can end up getting three different opinions from three different people when calling....

    EV plan is D/N only

Edit in addition, there is a FIT on the D/N plan, but it's calculated not measured.

Thanks, yep - i know about the calculated FiT alright for other plans.... just in light of your comment about it being possible to agree to have a smart meter with D/N rates

if one is building a totally new house, is the default meter installed = smart meter?

Can one insist on a day/night meter for a new build?
