Max will pass the mercs easy tomorrow and get on the podium so far ahead. If he stays out of trouble

Shouod be fun watching Max come through the grid, him and that car right now are mega. Seems the plank change hurt Ferrari more than RB.

Lewis when he heard the gap…ouchy!

And Max only did a single run, could well have gone quicker again. Love it.

Was it Hamilton or Russell who said in Hungary the new TD will bring red bull back towards the mercs ......

So long as Max isn't taken out at the start he should get near the podium.

The penalties make the start tomorrow interest but I did find that session boring. It was like everyone was just doing enough as they were going to move up some bit anyway in the grid .

    Grid for tomorrow.

    Alonso starting third. Yeah!!

P10 to P1 in Hungry, starting 5 places further back but much easier to overtake here. Fingers crossed he avoids any issues on the first lap and let’s see what pace he has. He said he’s aiming for a podium but you just know he’s thinking of the win again. 🤞🤞

The face on Toto was priceless, pushing for those technical changes seems to have backfired.

Verstappen is on another level with that car under him, untouchable you could say. Watching Hamilton talking after the race, he is carrying on like the season is over

Well Merc will want at least one win to save face. Right now it seems further away but it changes from track to track. At this stage, they need luck and a lot of it to win, at any race.

Drugovich driving like a man possessed in F2

Why hire Ricciardo when Drugovich drives like that! He deserves a race seat next year in F1. Really impressive in every race!

Some drive from him to be fair, P11 to P4 in three laps. He should win the championship reasonably comfortably

So before this weekend, Albon was the only driver not to make Q3, and starts P6 tomorrow! Good for him! Vettel P10 despite not getting out of Q1.

Didn't think qualifying was particularly exciting, should be a good race tomorrow though.

Was thinking at the start of the weekend that Verstappen would finish outside the top 3 for the first time in about 3 seasons (with an undamaged car) but now I think he'll have the race wrapped up with a good few laps to spare. Utterly dominant qauli session from him. Also very hard to trust Sainz to from pillar to post.

Also, good to see that Ferrari haven't let the summer break distract them into actually being a competent team.

This is the argument for reverse grids.

I'm pretty sure everyone is looking forward to seeing the fastest drivers make their way through the grid. Can they stay out of trouble as they battle the slower cars and each other? How will they manage their tyre strategy? Max and Leclerc starting at the back will be fascinating to watch. Slower drivers like Vettel starting midfield and Albon in P6... class to see it unfold.

How can Ferrari screw it up tmrw. Like what is left on the incompetence bingo for them?

Think T1 will be a bit tasty off the line. Hopefully nobody takes Max or LeC out

It's slowly becoming one of my favourite parts of the F1 weekend..

They're such a poor team. Given their resources, they're easily the worst value for money team on the grid. I've no idea why someone would consider themselves a Ferrari fan.

I feel sorry for mattia binotto. He's going to get the blame for this terrible team but in reality, if he was managing things like making sure the right set f tyres go on the car, then he'd be micro-managing every single thing that happens. He must have a whole bunch of middle and senior management who are just shyte. But it's Ferrari so the figurehead takes the blame and the team trundles on, throwing money at the problem and hoping it doesn't get worse.

Not sure if it was hyperbole, but the BBC team said Ferrari could fininsh last in the constructors and still get more money than the rest of the field. Such is their influence, they get a massive cut off the top before the constructor's money is doled out.

That's a pretty disgraceful situation. Ferrari should be free to fail like any other team. If they didn't hoover up all the money, there would be opportunity for well run teams to prosper.

Max is utterly on fire, as Perez has shown that car is very far from dominant but Verstappen is simply untouchable.

Puts Albon’s performances in perspective too, he couldn’t get anywhere near Max in the same car but neither can anyone - his performances at Williams this year make him look like a better driver in that car than Russell ever did.

It was a very weird qualifying with so many penalties but should be an interesting race tomorrow. Max has the pace to come through but there are many opportunities to trip up along the way. Leclerc should be following him through the field, and the likes of Norris and Ocon should give us lots of overtaking too. I hope Alonso gets a chance to fight for that podium and the car doesn’t fail him like it did the previous times he’s qualified highly.

Are the midfield teams going to bother putting up too much of a fight against Verstappen and LeClerc, that really isn't their fight. Alpine will be more worried about Mclaren and probably Merc I'd imagine. Probably hoping Norris gets caught fighting other drivers so Alpine can a bit of distance between themselves and Mclaren in the constructors. Verstappen will have to be a bit patient tomorrow, no point risking moves when that car is so quick likewise with Leclerc

Long shot here but anyone know of anywhere in Puerto Banus or Marbella where I can watch the race? I’ve found myself on a quick break at the last minute and I’ll be rushing to find a bar…..

Max is driving brilliantly, but perez doesn't show that the car isn't dominant. Perez showed he's an above average driver by being a humiliating 8 tenths off his teammate in quali. Granted, its a long lap so gaps are slightly exaggerated at this circuit.

It suggests the red bull is dominant at this circuit. And we know red bull has faster race pace than the Ferrari. So it's difficult to see how it's not the better car even of not dominant at every track

Sainz has had the advantage over Leclerc this weekend so fair play to him. Pole probably feels a bit hollow having been beaten by 6 tenths in quali. But he has a decent chance in the race. It will be hard to keep the faster red bull behind him on the long straights.
