    Hi

The 2 keys i have are both working fine, but the lock/ unlock press buttons plastic/casing have come loose ,and i have sellotape wrapped around it to the keep the buttons from falling out. I press down on the selltotaped area and the remote central locking works fine.

I can use the open option putting the key into the lock on the door to keep me going, just wonder if a local locksmith can replace the casing for me or is it a whole new key(s) required from Opel ?

Hope i am explaining correctly, thanks for any pointers !

My button to open the boot completely dislodged and fell out on my Insignia fob so I am interested in seeing what the answer is.

Replacement fobs on Ebay for less than a tenner. Also one on adverts.ie for €9.My Daughters fiesta key fob was beat up and thats they way I went. You could also check the locksmiths that do car keys, you could be pleasantly surprised as the fob is the cheapest part of the replacement.

Thank you , i will pop into a few of the local locksmiths at the weekend for their opinion.

I would make a mess of it if i tried doing it myself .

Beware some replacement cases on eBay are slightly different to the original so as you say I would recommend local locksmiths etc. Make sure you bring both keys and the car parked outside so you can test everything. It might make sense to ring ahead, get a quote and see if they have cases in stock or if they need to order in. Get the battery replaced at the same time. If cost is too high shop around.

When fixed you can buy rubber protective covers online which can extend the life by protecting the buttons. They are often called silicone protectors.

If you're in Dublin go to Autokey in Clondalkin. They refurbished a key for me like brand new new, I think it was around €25.

Its one of those things you can fcuk up if you try to do it yourself.

I bought this for my 2011 Insignia, 10 minute job, 14.99 Sterling on Amazon but if you are near Autokey then 25 euro is a good price for a done job.
