From rounds 10-12 Usyk landed 79 punches to 29. Some way to finish.

Amazingly Glen Feldman gave AJ round 12. You'd have to question the integrity of that score.

    Stfu..

they will continue to plug him. He lost. We all know this..my post was said as a “dig-facepalm.”

he’s lost some marketability. But Hearn and Sky won’t cut him lose.

I was most impressed with AJs stamina. He seemed very fit and fresh the whole fight, and it was a good pace. Usyk’s stamina, of course, top notch.

Fury and Usyk need to fight. Usyk said he wants it next. I think Usyk’s style and his movement, volume and fitness can do very well

Hearn/AJ and Sky will cling to a few things here

    1. it was split
    2. AJ was quite competitive
    3. AJ wasn’t beaten up/ko’d

I don’t think AJ retires. The AJ/Fury fight will still sell big in the UK. All about money, and there’s money to be made.

Nonsense. Whatever modern science between Mike Tyson era and AJ/Wilder it won’t stop either getting KTFO easily!!!

Best tactics, Really? I thought it was quite similar to the first fight where AJ is trying to outbox him with very little variation.

yeah Joshua’s cardio was a lot better although I still think he faded a lot from 10 onwards and I think the punch output stats support that, probably emptied the tank to a certain extent in the 9th trying to finish, I thought he nearly had him tbh.

the rant at the end was I’ll advised but he can still go again if he wants to.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,128 ✭✭✭✭walshb

Agreed. He likely does not retire. I reckon AJ really thinks he did very well, but reality is that he lost, and probably lost cleaner than in fight 1, despite him looking a bit better in fight 2.

Yeah first fight he didn’t really go for it so there was always the question if he did could he win, last night I think he gave him the best chance of winning but still wasn’t enough, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him hold a belt again, fury will fit usyk and I think they both retire soon after if not immediately after

    Here?

I wouldn’t say severe. Fury starts favorite, but I reckon style wise this is very close.

seen plenty folks across all areas think similar. Most picking Fury, but no way “severe” minority picking Usyk.

In the world , here, bookmakers. I havent heard of anyone that thinks Usyk beats fury. No idea how he could. Do you dislike Fury? Fair enough if you do. He is an odd character. Boxing wise i dont see how you think he loses to Usyk. Course he could but you thinking he will suggests to me you just dont like Fury.

Bookies will have Fury a favorite, but warm, not hot.

Why would a like or dislike have anything to do with how someone assesses two boxers and then picks their winner?

I’d back Fury to beat any HW in the world. One I wouldn’t back to beat is Usyk. So absolutely nothing to do with any like or dislike. Nonsense to even bring it up

and to further explain, I initially backed Fury to beat Usyk. My view has changed, based off nothing but recent viewings of both men.

Btw, I’d only be 55/45 confident, same way if I backed Fury I’d be 55/45. These two men are going to have a very close fight.

You are talking absolute pony. Fury will be 1/3 or 2/5 cop on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,128 ✭✭✭✭walshb

Yea. Warm favorite. 3-1 on. Hardly on fire. 8-1 on or 10-1 on in boxing would be seen as a real clear-hot favorite.

you haven’t a clue, and proved this by bringing up nonsense about liking/disliking.

    quit the gick talk..

Very warm favourite. You go against the grain and say Usyk for me , with no support for your outsider claim. Quit the gick talk yourself. Out of interest do you like fury?

Stick to the gambling, lad and leave the boxing analysis to the pros.

Like Fury? Don’t know him. Comes across a spoofer to me. Always want to see him lose.

Only boxer right now I’d back to beat him is Usyk, and as I said, only slightly confident in this.

Your failure to grasp this and bringing up like and dislike is your issue.

I base any fight predictions off nothing but boxing..

Usyk hasn’t really got a hope against Fury. Fury can put work him and keep him away with his reach. Usyk doesn’t have the power to trouble him.

Stick to your basing predictions of gambling odds.

I prefer good old-fashioned analysis of boxers; styles, strengths, weaknesses, mentality, physicality and all the intangibles and nuances.

your childish “you don’t like” observations are just tiresome. You’re a part time casual by the sounds of it.

I don’t think Usyk’s “lack of power” here will affect him too much. I think Usyk’s engine, feet, movement, hand speed, ring IQ and utter belief will see him make this very competitive. I think we could see a big Fury befuddled and bedazzled by Usyk’s constant changing and effective motion/punching.

A key: Fury to get close and use his size and weight: but..I think he struggles to do this against a man like Usyk.

Like most found it hard to split the 1st few rounds but felt usyk edged most , AJ had good moments but just couldn't dominate he tried to much too land a big punch but maybe had no choice ,His tactic for body shots was good although he struggled to follow due to usyks overall movement, saying that there was 2 round I thought he had usyk finished and usyk looked more fatigued than I expected between 7-10 ?ish not sure of the rounds now,I think the body shot early on hurt usyk as I felt he was very wary of it afterwards,Need a rewatch to see if I think the same still. Afterwards well 😆 , think Joshua did well for all the movement up to 10 had nothing left it seemed after that

Aj is bad at roughing up and trying to lean

You have given zero analysis. Clearly picked Usyk based off your dislike of fury. What an absolute child we have here.

    Joshua must be raging.

He's spent most the last decade knocking out guys he is way better than and being champ.

Now he must know he's never getting the fury fight and big money payout and that he's not the undisputed best anymore or have a claim to be.

Why were his team telling him he was winning every round? Was it to prevent Joshua from chasing usyk and being picked off too easy?

That was great entertainment the warm up and main event. Well worth getting.

Firstly Usyk is special. His balance and calmness in the fire is incredible along with those dancing feet.

Joshua. He fought better than the last time but he employed largely the same tactics and had the same problems with a corner that bullshitted him. He again fought Usyk’s fight and add on a few body shots that did do some harm and was it the 9th he tried some naughty moves. Ref said nothing about those which is absurd. His jab was better as well but it reminded me of Wilder vs Fury 3 where he looked unnatural and learned. At some time he needed to absolutely go gung-ho and his corner needed to tell him that to give him the best chance.

The rant was ridiculous. Frasier Clark spoke very well for me when he put his hand up and said he was wrong to do that. As an up and coming (potentially) HW I think that took guts to do so well done to him. The rest of the panel followed his lead and condemned it. Then Sky ditched him a bit like BBC with Steve McLaren.

Looking ahead I think people saying Fury has the fitness to take Usyk aren’t paying attention. Fury takes breaks in every round Usyk is much fitter than that. I think Fury can do a much better and more effective job of leaning, spoiling. I think Fury would win it would be incredible to watch the build up.
