You can buy a card key ring without anything on it, main reason I like it is that it is less likely to fall out of my pocket than a slippery card. The card has Tesla written on it as well, so if anyone finds it the same problem arises with security.

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 40,988 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gumbo

    No problem.

They give you 2 cards. That’s more than 1.

But no, no option to trade a card for a key.

If somebody finds a wallet and would be willing to steal they will check every card and realise one is for a Tesla so it wouldn’t really make a difference as far as I can see.

You ring your Mrs and ask her to unlock and start the car for you using her phone key 😃

Sorted !, just get one of these for the Tesla key card, the probably won't even pick it off the ground, and even if the do chances are they will stick a fiver in it and put it back down.... ! ;)

Off today, so went for a walk up the hills earlier when not as hot with the dog. 44km driven, says used 6kWh but doesn't include the heavy aircon usage. Started 100%, 89% after. Plugged in at home when in solar excess at about 3pm, full again now.

Love this sunny weather and great with the LFP battery being able to take regular top ups to 100% (Apparently it's what it likes)

Weather super, ran car down to 26% last night, I'll have it fully charged this time tomorrow then charge up the Kona Sunday off PV

Yes it's great. Missus home for next two days apart from local runs, so she should be able to grab about 15% per day from PV. Ours is only just over 4kWp but great so far. However I don't expect any surplus for the cars for the winter months..

I started off Monday morning at 52%, drove about 275km over the course of the week, and currently at 60%, and all charging was from Solar PV…

    Epic.

What etag or alternatives are you folks using?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,614 ✭✭✭eagerv

We are using Tolltag (Park magic). No complaints..

will have to consider PV solar options and see if its worth the investment

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,614 ✭✭✭eagerv

The payback is long, but who knows what leccie will cost in the future. (If we are still around in the future 😮)

I love it, so much hot water I probably smell a bit better as well..😆

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 40,988 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gumbo

I put solar in back in 2017 while renovating. 4.7kW array, 5.2 kWh battery and eddi hot water divertor.

Cost me €3900 fitted. When an truly paid back by now I’d imagine.

I can deffo recommend it and get the biggest array you can fit on your roof. Make it extendable if funds are tight now and make it so a battery can be added easily in the future too.

FIT should be live by the end of this year too.

Just to follow up on this MF. The reason for this is that the M3 and MY is the No. 1 and No. 2 best selling cars in California at the moment.

So phantom drain. I know some of you have reported very little drain. My car averages about 2 -2.5% drop per day with sentry off. Consistently. Here it is after 2 weeks parked in my own underground

I made sure the app is turned off on both drivers phones. I turned of calendar sync. Next time I go away for more than a week I'll turn off mobile comms to see if this is a factor. Anyway that's 32 kWh in 13 days.

Roughly 103watt/hr, that's not far off a small house load, does not appear to make sense?

Something not right there. I was parked up for 3 weeks and the battery went from 47% to 44%. I turned in the live cameras 3 times for a quick check in that 3 week period.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,614 ✭✭✭eagerv

Did you have overheat protection on? Otherwise as others have said there is something wrong. I only lost a few % over 10 days, would probably have been less if I hadn't regularly woken car to check temperature.

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 40,988 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gumbo

Strange, I parked my 2020 M3P at home last Tuesday (1 week) at 91% and have been using the app daily to open and close the windows due to the heat at home and I’m on 90% now.

    Sentery off.

    CHP off.

There was chat a while back on the seats being too hot in the hot weather, I had no such issue last week during the heatwave but holy crap batman, those metal scroll wheels were hopping!

No I don't have that ON. I found there was a "Enable Scheduled Charging" ON for whatever reason. Turned off on Sunday but still around 2% drop overnight. Today I disabled the summon and I'll monitor to see if that has some impact.

A quick query - not so much about the heat of the seats, but about the care of the seats: After the recent great weather, we've been on loads of road trips in the Model 3 and it's a joy to drive long distances around Ireland (covering almost all of the east coast and over to the west also).

Sorry, I'll cut the travelogue short, though, to get to the question: What does everyone else use for cleaning the vegan leather seats? I've got them in black and sunblock seems have left stains on the material that I can't seem to remove.

    Thanks in advance.

I clean mine monthly. But I’ve done that on all my cars. Weekend warrior detailer!

I use P&S Express Interior Cleaner and I cost them with GTechnique L1 every other month.

Takes about 10 mins to do the front 2 seats. I have the white interior so need to keep on top of it.

I find the P&S cleans without leaving any residue or no glossy layer, it retains the Matt leather look.

I also use Soft 99 Wash Mist recently and Kosc PO for the leather and found that good too. The Soft99 is

Safe on all seats, screens, dash etc

Heres a recent post I done on the FB Group.

    Have a new interior combo!

Use Koch PO (Diluted 1:5) and sprayed onto the seats. Agitated with Sonax Leather/Fabric Brush).

Wiped clean with a soft MF Towel.

Plastics done with Soft 99 Wash Mist.

Doesn’t leave a shine, gloss finish. I like the Matt clean look personally.

Screen and centre console wiped with P&S Beadmaker as I got that too from another detailer and it appears to repel finger prints 😎

@Gumbo You even have a toothbrush on the hanger! 😀

You're the man to buy a car from!

Interested... do you completely lose your sh*t when one of your cars has a scratch on it?!

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 40,988 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gumbo

    🤣🤣

The toothbrush is for cleaning the DA pads in between machine polishing.

Yes I would be mental. Park in the furthest spot possible, spend more time looking for a spot than actually in the shop itself 🤣
