You will get a specific date (many customers have today received same message and were successful in getting a confirmed delivery date). As far as revolut is concerned if the funds appear in your account I think you can safely assume safe delivery.

Every one here is getting the delivery from Baldonell?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,559 ✭✭✭Thumper Long

Sandyford is too small given the volume of Teslas to be delivered over a couple of weeks, to the best of my knowledge NVD provide the logistics for Tesla as in shipping from the docks, storage and provision of a customer delivery area. NVD provide most of the car transport for the OEMs here.

Is anyone getting a home delivery like previously some did or is that scrapped? I presume there is also deliveries happening in Cork, or does everyone have to hoof it to Baldonnel this time?

I am based in Munster and my collection point is also Baldonnell.

At least you’ll get a nice drive home? Bit sh1te there’s no regional deliveries

I doubt that Cork has a collection point. I took my test drive in Cork and the set-up is basically a pop-up style shop for Tesla with a couple of cars in the carpark of Mahon Shopping Centre for people to take on test drive (which is perfectly adequate for the purpose of a test drive)

Ahh I was under the impression there were collections in cork, in baldonnel it’s a pop up tent too afaik, Tesla minimalism

All handovers are done from Baldonnel. The reception area is a marquee which has about 6 to 8 cars in it and a few outside. As appointments arise cars are moved into the collection area and it is a relatively efficient process. You are greeted by a Tesla staff member, you show your ID and your hone app. He activates your car and it appears on your Phone app. You get two Credit card like keys and are shown to your car. You can inspect and are not put under any time pressure and are free to drive off whenever you like. Cars have different levels of charge and for anyone that has a long journey there is an Ionity fast charging site a few kms away in Kill. From those who have collected in 2022 (myself included) the quality level is high and the whole process is reasonably efficient. A lot of Youtube videos circulate about "collection checklists" but ,in my opinion, these will only serve to raise anxiety and were more appropriate when Tesla were known to have some quality issues, but cars coming from China are high quality. You have one week or 100kms to report/advise Tesla of any issues and they will rectify (most people have no issues). I would suggest that when onsite inspect the car for any paintwork issues, (scratches, chips) and report if there are as that way you remove any uncertainty as to whether it was delivered that way or not.

Bet of luck to all new owners!

The quality issues are for earlier cars. Even in the US with the modern freemont built cars, the checklist isnt really needed.

People from cork were collecting from Baldonnel last time round too.

And remember, those of you collecting with a decent drive home. Stop and charge straight away.

These cars have been on a boat for weeks, sitting around. The BMS doesn’t know what’s full and what’s empty.

It needs to learn and a few people were caught out last time.

I believe Tesla have copped on and are actively charging them but no doubt, on the day some will be missed.

Yes, stop with 30+% remaining. Kill Ionity, J14 Mayfield etc. Don't go for ballacolla, we saw many reports of cars shutting off with 20+% remaining. It's a drawback with LFP, there's very little difference in voltage between 100% and 0% so after a long trip the BMS will not be accurate

    Thanks - newbie question:

If I stop at the Ionity charger at Kill,ll the plug at the Ionity stop plug directly into my Model 3 or do I need an adapter?

Also, do I need the Ionity app or Ionity account to pay or can I just 'tap' using my debit card?

Plug straight in. It’s a CCS charger.

Can’t answer the app question as I’m not registered with them but I assume you’ll need to register your details and have a payment set up.

Use eCars if available as it’s cheaper.

I have a Leaf 40 SVE ordered which is delayed from July and supposed to be delivered in October, but if it doesn't arrive in October I am looking to go with a Tesla.

I'm about to pull the trigger on an M3RWD (deposit). Picking the colour is a hard choice :D .Will be financing, but not sure yet who to go with. Who are you guys using?

if you order now, you could have one in a month or so, even before the leaf was due.

Any colour but red, not that I don't like it..I do, but it will not get the 5K grant. All the other colours are personal choice, I personally like the White and MSM

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,559 ✭✭✭Thumper Long

I would have gone red if it didn’t wipe out the grant, in the end was between Blue and MSM, I had a good look at both as there are local examples of both and the blue was stunning when spotlessly clean and in sunshine, otherwise it looked dull and shows dirt very noticeably, the MSM was equally striking but hid the dirt much better when not freshly washed, so went MSM in the end just my €0.02, but if you order now and don’t go for default white with 18s, white with 19s seems to available much quicker there is a very good chance you could have a car before quarter end

just to note 19s and anything other than white loses the grant!

I’m only in my new job 4 months. I reckon I need 6 months for finance to be available and I’d need 2 months to have the min deposit.

Im leaning toward MSM. Would love the 19s as they look great on the car, but only white car can have those with the grant.

I thought if I place your order via a link sent to me by the salesman, I get 6 month Fred’s charging but tbh I’m not sure how to avail of that any ideas or experiences?

My Leaf is same colour 😊

Colour is always personal choice with multiple opinions. each as valid as the next . Not sure what the debate adds to this forum ..a range of colours so make your choice!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,002 ✭✭✭✭mfceiling

Loads of different coloured M3's here in California. Obviously they are all wrapped but I've seen a few colours that would be lovely if they were factory standard.

Really nice light silver and also a nice silvery/light blue. Also a good few cars on aftermarket rims.

And again not to repeat myself but there are way more Y's than 3's here!!
