That's some goal from Diaz. Carved them open.

Lost count of the amount of times Eze has dribbled past TAA. Hope he can stay fit as he's fun to watch.

Total disaster of a result for Liverpool. Team doesn’t look good with that midfield. Milner’s time has come and gone. It’s gonna be top 4 for Liverpool now, not title challenge.

I know they have been decent most years but Palace under Viera are a real nice team to watch.

I really find TAA massively over rated, he has world class ability when it comes to his crossing but he's very average at defending.

Anyway poor for Liverpool, over half the team over 30. Not replacing players that leave ie. Mane. Nobody on the bench that can do anything. Could be the end of a short Era.

Relegation 6 pointer next Monday night. Sky will hype the shite out of it!!!

Have recruited well too. Changed their identity from that of Pulis/Allardyce/Hodgson.

Any chance Nunez gets an extended ban? 3 games would seem lenient for a headbutt like that. Could have caused serious damage.

To be fair they where missing Konate, Matip, Gomez not fit enough to start

Also missing Thaigo, Jota & Firmino

They let Mane, Origi & Taki go in the summer and replaced them with just Nunez they need another attacker

Also there definitely short 1 world class midfielder, Jone, Milner Ox all not good enough now for various reasons & Thaigo & Keita can't stay fit

Starting 11 definitely not as good as last season with Nunez for Mane and either is the squad

Mane is one of the best players in the world. Diaz is good but he’s not at that level yet. However, given the number of players over 30 they did really have to start trying to refresh it as the business model has to operate that way.

Only 3 starter last night where over 30 ? City had 4 start the weekend over 30

VVD (31) who is fine, Salah (30 a month) who is fine , & Milner how shouldn't be needing to start games ,

    Then you have Hendo (32) ,Thaigo (31) , Firmino (30) Matip (31) ,

We all know they need another 1 or 2 younger world class Midfielders , to replace Milner, OX & one of Jones or Ketia

    Firmino last year of contract,

Matip in the process of being replaced by Konate & Gomez,

So many listening to Sky and the over 30 club at Liverpool and ignoring those who are out injured thinking the "era" is over

    ******

If these injuries are going to be as prevalent as a couple years ago, then Liverpool won't be challenging City again. We saw what happened the last time around.

Liverpool need a fully fit and firing squad to challenge. If they do stay fit, I give them every chance of winning it.

That’s the point, 3 of the other 30 year olds or over were injured! Firmino, Matip and Thiago would all have been involved had they been fit. We can’t even think about starting Milner in a league game, ever again. Not only is he 37, he isn’t at that level anymore. Not even close. Watch him closely.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,954 ✭✭✭✭yourdeadwright

Firmino & Matip are behind Jota & Konate who are unfortunately injured too

Look at the finals last season Matip was benched for Konate ,Bobby was benched & Jota came on first ahead of him,

Both Matip & Firmino are being phased out,

No problem with Thaigo starting game when fit he's only 31 , for example KDB is 32 should he be replaced by City ?

Milner yes of course he shouldn't be starting games i agree 100%

It's not that he's not as good, he's just different.

people forget how well oiled these elite teams are. Mane and Salah fitted like a glove. Firmino in his pomp also did. Jota did an outstanding job in settling in, but even then it was a case of figuring out whether he's better on the left or through the middle, while not causing a problem to the whole.

Diaz's issue is he can do something godly like last night, but in general, he takes too many touches. he needs to figure out when to hold, and when to pop it off. He also isn't the aerial threat of Mane, so the back post cross from Trent isn't quite the same danger.

also, a word on Joakim Andersen.

it's a matter of time before he's playing for a CL team, or even in a title winning team. he's that good. he tormented Nunez into that red card.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,674 ✭✭✭doc_17

Yes injuries have taken their toll, but some of the over 30s are a problem for various reasons, injury, form, ability….If you have too many over 30s about, this will happen.

As for the CP defender, yeah he did well. But reds will be on to him now. Ings and Watkins should be hitting the deck this Saturday every time he pushed one of them in the back.

Honestly i don't think Anderson done anything new, every other CB does the same,

Nunez is clearly felling pressure of his big move, It started when he reacted to social media posts about his poor pre season game against United, he scored 4 in the next game and reacted to that on social media,

Every game he has tried to play at 100 miles an hour & isn't settling down,

Last night he snatched at a great chance at the end of the first half he knows he should have scored so the pressure ramped up again ,

Now go watch when Salah put him through & he fluffed a great chance with a shocking effort with his left foot, He went running after the ref for about 2 minutes looking for a peno for handball because he knew once again he missed a really good chance badly ,He never clamed down from that moment & only about 2 minutes later he head butts Anderson ,

He's not dealing with the pressure yet & he's nervous as hell and trying to hard & not playing his natural game ,

He needs to remain clam & focused

On top of all that it's just not happening for Salah in front of goal right now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,194 ✭✭✭Jarhead_Tendler

Yes the fact he went for him twice with the head. Can have no complaints if he does get longer

Death threats online for Anderson last night. Shocking stuff

It's not right of course its not & it never will be but im not sure why people are shocked anymore,

I'd be absolutely shocked if there is any player playing for one of the traditional big teams who has not been threatened or abused on twitter its full of hate ,

Anderson played very well and didn't do anything every other CB does week in week out,
