Dublin airport taxi rank

Hi,

I am back in Dublin for a few days in a week and last time I was over in April the taxi rank in the airport had god awful ques. This has happened a few times this year but previously it had always been smooth sailing getting a taxi.

Does anyone know if the ques are still bad or have things improved?

Just want to know so I can consider renting a car or looking at alternative transport arrangements.

We came in from NY last Wednesday at about 10.30 am - no issues at all with taxis. We got one within minutes.

There is a shortage of taxis in Dublin. It can be difficult getting a taxi at the airport late on weekend nights.

I arrived in on last bank holiday Monday at about 7.30 in the evening. Was apprehensive thinking there would be a long wait.

No one at all in the taxi queue. Straight out of the airport.

Use an app and get one in the pre-booked taxi area (zone 18 I think). Always works for me

It'd be easier to get a cab than rent a car....

We had a pretty long queue in mid-July (full length of covered taxi walkway) but were in a taxi within 15 minutes. Even if it looks like a long wait the taxis are called from the holding area as required and tend to turn up 3 or more at a time

On June 21 at 11 pm there was a 90 minute wait for taxis. Daughter booked one on her app and five minutes later we were on our way.

Thanks for all the replys and advice. I will go ahead and wait for the taxi but will download the app as a plan b. Much appreciated
