That's contrary to everything else I've read, most said he was anonymous

Bailey was what I had in mind anyway so good to get some reinforcement

I see a lot of talk on BT about starting Andreas, I'd be waiting until he actually does something, coupled with him playing for Fulham and it being away from home

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,083 ✭✭✭Chesty08

Wasn’t he on set pieces. I think he could be worth a shout to start.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,543 ✭✭✭Shedite27

Andreas looked excellent against Liverpool. A few more performances like that and I would be tempted to start him and use the money elsewhere

My point was more in relation to him having a good chance of starting rather than a cameo appearance as there were players far worse than him.

Villa were poor overall and Bailey to me looked at least the most likely to make something happen, hence why he was left on IMO whilst others were taken off. I'd be willing to take a punt on him at home to Everton.

Ive the same dilemma, start Bailey or Perisic. Leaning Perisic at the moment as Villa looked terrible and Fulham decent enough. I think they can score at Wolves and then hope Perisic is in someway involved.

I had Pereira in starting 11 last week and don't see any reason not to - he's on all the set pieces and plays in an attacking role - If he's taking most corners - he's likely to get an assist, and with free kicks could get a goal or two. He's also likely to start games, unlike Bailey who has competition for places.

I read today that a number of city players and one Chelsea player are likely to be called to give evidence in the Mendy trial - does anyone think those players might be a FF risk in the coming weeks, for example GW5 are midweek games - is there a risk that they may need to be in court and miss league games? and/or anything that comes from the trial might impact how they play?

I said to a different group earlier but there is a massive united bias in the calls to start Pereira, yes he might be underpriced but like I said earlier I'd be waiting for him to do something, he has zero history of producing or even playing that well in the PL

I hear ya but tbf he appears to be (albeit only 1 game to go on) centrally involved in most of the attacking moves in what looks a well drilled side - on frees & corners aswell. He was always a bit part player at Utd and played second fiddle in attack with the likes of Pogba, Fernandes etc hoovering up that space. I will be starting him in GW2, just my 2 cents and thankfully Im not a utd fan 😀

Would the court be on during daytime hours, Monday - Friday only? Not too familiar with the UK system. I guess a midweek game, away from home, could be affected maybe?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,029 ✭✭✭✭Ace2007

I watched the game on Saturday against Liverpool and he was very lively and on all set pieces - with a target man of Mitrovic, I believe that he'll do well. Sure I might be wrong, but those saying Bailey are basing it on pre season games where the opposition isn't as strong. Time will tell.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,543 ✭✭✭Shedite27

I'm far from a WH fan but he passed the eye test, playing in an attacking role ina team that's gonna score goals. I suspect he'll outscore most of the 5.5/6m options by the end of the season

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,803 ✭✭✭✭Green&Red

He definitely could and I've brought him in this week, I'm just pointing out that he has yet to do anything

@Ace2007 no offence but you're up there with the most biased United supporters here, you have Dalot, Lingard and Pereira in your team, I was very surprised Rashford wasn't in it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,777 ✭✭✭✭Muahahaha

sorry yeah I meant Andreas Pereira not Perisic

3rd choice keeper by all accounts.

    Ward's spot to lose.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,029 ✭✭✭✭Ace2007

what's with the personal attack? Lingard had an amazing season when he played with West Ham and a lot of posters in here had him - so I've taken a punt that he'll have a good start to the season and at 6m is worth it. Pereira is 4.5m attacking player who is going to start - if you don't want him that's fine, but i don't have him in my team because he used to play for United. As for Dalot he had a good pre season and is cheap as chips.

You seem to have a chip on your shoulder when people give an opinion on something that is different to yours - you told another poster that he should post his rank before giving advice - which is out of line imo and something that this forum has tried not to have in years gone by which is why it worked so well.

I haven't told anyone to get Lingard to Dalot - so why does it matter who i have in my team? I mention Pereira and gave my reasons but you attack me?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,803 ✭✭✭✭Green&Red

Hardly a personal attack suggesting that you've United tinted glasses on?

That's a thin enough skin you have there, I'm not sure being a United supporter counts towards personal attributes

This is a discussion board, if I disagree with something I'll say it out, isn't that the point?

As for the rank history I jokingly asked a lad if he was worth listening to, a large step from asking someone to give their rank before posting advice. Perhaps I'm not the one with the chip?

You went to the hassle of looking for my team and then using who I picked against an argument - to me that’s out of line and if everyone did that this place would turn into the soccer forum.

You can question me on a particular player that I may mention but to bring up players that I haven’t is out of line imo.

i noticed you support Liverpool and don’t have Haaland - are you letting your allegiance towards Liverpool get in the way of getting Haaland?

this place is dead at the best of times - if you keep making remarks on posters there will be very few left - according to you we should be posting our tank before giving advice…

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,803 ✭✭✭✭Green&Red

I'd barely consider myself a Liverpool fan, if it wasn't for FPL I wouldn't follow soccer at all

I'd argue that theres been an influx of soccer fans here that let their team allegiances get in the way of who they pick, united and Liverpool fans the worst. You're here a good while so I didn't need to check your team to know you have a biased view.

Again, hardly a personal attack, a statement of fact, biased views get in the way of good FPL and you have the blinkers on when it comes to United

On your last point, I'm a huge advocate of knowing posters ranks, there was a thread here about 4/5 years ago on just that and the board was split on whether previous ranks should be taken into account with opinions. I always thought they should, in fact I kept a note for a long time of the top posters from boards because I valued their opinion more

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 483 ✭✭Fred Astaire

You're extremely quick to dismiss others opinions in a very condescending way whilst acting like you know it all.

    It's childish.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,803 ✭✭✭✭Green&Red

The only interaction I've had with you was about being biased towards United AFAIK?

Stands that you wouldn't like my theory on it

Edit: feel free to throw up an example of me being dismissive and it not involving united?

Or maybe accept that if I say I think Dalot is sh!t it's because United kept 8 clean sheets last year and they cant defend rather than it being a personal attack on United supporters?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 483 ✭✭Fred Astaire

    Biased?

I offered an opinion which people were free to take or leave.

I didn't need your approval to post it. It doesn't have to be vetted by you.

Remarkable how youre keeping mental notes on multiple posters on here. Extremely wierd.

There's going to be very few posters on here by the end of the season because there is a petulant man child keeping tabs on everybody and dictating what is an acceptable opinion or not. Utterly embarassing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,803 ✭✭✭✭Green&Red

Weird being able to remember last week?

    Fair enough

I'll leave ye to it lads, I'm sure yer United bias will lead to two great seasons and better luck to ye.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,673 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

I've read that Leicester have some decent young keeper that they want to loan out and gain experience, so this signing will be as a 3rd choice.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,610 ✭✭✭✭2nd Row Donkey

Is there a new chip this season? The chip on the shoulder chip. My plan is to bench boost in DGW 32, free hit in 33, WC in 34 and then when it all goes pear shaped and I'm disgruntled enough I'm gonna play the chip on the shoulder chip in GW 35 or 36.

My impression of Andreas Perreira up to now has been very, very poor. He was bad on loan at Valencia and much the same at United.

In saying that, I have him in my team solely because he's an attacking 4.5 midfielder, and I'll be delighted if I'm proven very wrong. Lots of players don't start hitting good form or find the right place to thrive until their mid-twenties.

Is it stupid not to have Haaland ?
