It would be fantastic if the Cork County board started taking gaa seriously in the county and get the best systems in across the board for the Hurlers and footballers so that we can start working towards achieving something great again like winning an All Ireland in both codes. Kilkenny did brilliantly this year against Limerick in the final they were very competitive and had even a chance of even winning the game at the end. The All Ireland hurling final of 2021 was a joke in comparison and Cork hammered out the gate after 10 mins should have been seriously addressed going into 2022. But very little changes or improvements could be seen. Here's hoping to a better 2023.

John Cleary taking the seniors for 3 years. As I said before, Keith Rickens health is the most important thing and hopefully at some stage in the future he will be in a position to get involved at some level again

Really poor start from Cork. Some awful shots and its easy to see that they havent played in a few weeks. Touch is all off and shot selections all wrong.

Second best to everything do far and still haven't even got a point yet after 18 mins

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,459 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Got back to 5-3 points down and then gave away some cheap scores and its now

Cork 0-3 Waterford 0-7 at half time

Thompson has made a huge difference but the Cork forwards are very poor. We look like a team with no scoring forwards and relying on others to get scores. Really strange to see

Some really awful shooting from Cork letting Waterford off the hook.8 wides and really poor ones

    Waterford still ahead by 3

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,459 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Corks subs made the difference combined with Waterford running out of steam.

Fair dues to the management as they changed things around in the second half and it ended up a good win. This is why I was critical of Kingston with the men as he never seemed to change anything or the way we played when its clear its not working.

But Cork looked very slow and touch was off in the first half and this is probably due to the break between games.

It is quite clear that Thompson was a huge difference along with the other subs as well. Onto the final now!!

Better 2nd half but along way off Galway or Kilkenny

All in all that Kanturk team had four sets of brothers playing!

Intermediates win with an injury time free, 2 teams in finals in two weeks time

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,977 ✭✭✭lukin

The senior camogie AI final is Cork's last chance of an All-Ireland this year. I know we are in the Intermediate final as well but the Senior is the one that counts. The seniors will be underdogs for sure but let's hope they can cause a shock.

Anyone have a list of what matches the Examiner are covering? Subscribed there but disappointed to see that, at the moment at least, they're only covering the Sars Rockies match at 7 later and not Glen Erin's Own at 5, both of them in Pairc Uí Rinn.

Cork 1-16 Galway 1-8 FT. Despite the scoreline we made hard work of it, 11 or 12 wides and missed a penalty before a goal in the final minute sealed it for us

Intermediate Camogie girls and then the Seniors in the finakl tomorrow.

First one will be bigger under dogs while the Seniors will also be hard pressed to find a win.

1 win would be very good, 2 would be fantastic if unrealistic, but you never know.

That Galway Intermediate team are Seriously young.

Intermediates lost by 2 and were beaten by the better team. Cork were too sloppy generally.

With 10 to go Galway went down to 14. 5 mins left and we were 2 points down and a simple tap over free on the 21. A very poor decision to go for goal from there. Bring it down to a point and apply more pressure. It could have made a big difference,

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,064 ✭✭✭zetecescort

Another poor start from Cork, 6 down and yet to score after 18 min. Forwards really struggling to hold possession.

Edit: goal for Cork. Hopefully that gets us going

Awful first 20, scoreless and 6 down.

    Headless running into defenders.

    The goal was huge.

    Draw at ht.

    Very happy with that.

Very good second half. A lucky enough goal with 2 to go was enough for Kilkenny to win by a point

First 20 minutes was so poor but they can be very proud of the effort.

Cork were looking the likely winners before the late goal.

What did people make of Paudie Murray on the Sunday Game last night? Part of me felt he was probably telling a lot of the truth, which was refreshing, other side of the coin was that he came across as bitter about not still being in the job.

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,445 ✭✭✭✭callaway92

He rightly got stuck into Cork I think. Their run to the final absolutely flattered them. This thing of being a 'young team' is a myth too by the way. A frustrating excuse by some in the camp

Wasn't afraid to be honest about how he saw things. I'd say though a lot of it is not wanting the whole 'Davy Fitz delivers Cork a Camogie All-Ireland' so I think he's relieved they didn't win, and is letting them know that

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,977 ✭✭✭lukin

His comments were a disgrace. Stabbed his former players in the back and but the boot into the management too. I could never stand the guy, even when Cork were winning All-Ireland's with him as manager. Always came across as having an ego the size of Mount Everest and couldn't bear to think of anyone knowing more than him about the game. Those girls owe Cork nothing, they deserve better than what he said about them last night. There was only a puck of a ball in it at the end, Kilkenny were probably marginally the better side though, well done to them.

Just a few points in relation to the above. Remember, Cork beat much the same KK team last year. It must be remembered also that if Limerick had Lynch and Casey playing this year, Kilkenny would certainly not end up as close to Limerick as they did. If the two boys were fit to start, Dan Morrissey would be playing Full Back- he is a far better back than Mike Casey, Hayes would be at wing back and instead of Walsh doing well for about ten minutes, Hayes would probably have taken him for a few scintillating runs up the wing and Wallie's tank would be emptied even sooner than it was- he was gone after ten minutes anyway. Now Lynch is the chief player on the team and he would improve the entire Forward Line and of course Casey, was probably as good against Tipp last year and until he went off injured in the Final. Most agree that G Mulcahy's best days are well behind him and yet ha caused three points from frees, what would Casey have done. Gillane was also clearly carrying an injury. All in all, I feel if the two boys were available and Gillane at full throttle the margin would be a good bit wider

    Thought its was a disgrace ,he got to personal naming players ,girls that went out to give of there best he is not in charge of the team so its the selectors right to pick the team and set up.Just because he was in charge ayear ago doesnt give him the right to say it was wrong but he could say he didnt agree with it.{not a davy fan }
