Imported Vehicle - How long until registration appeares in Insurer database?

    Hi, I've imported a vehicle from Asia under Transfer of Residence. After 24 hours it has yet to appear in the insurer database (it just appear in the Motor Tax this morning). Does anyone have any experience here, as to how long it takes to show up in the insurance database so they can write the cover? Thanks

    It will be somewhere between 5-10 working days after car was given Irish registration number, this was my experience when I last imported from UK.

    Have a look on Cartell.ie and when it appears there it should be visible to insurers.

    Mine was done last month on a thursday showed up on tax next day and on the insurance on the Monday as it was renewal time anyway.

    Thanks. I imported the vehicle from Hong Kong. It appeared in the insurance database about two working days after I taxed it and Kennco was helpful in providing a reasonable quote.
