Maldives New Airport

Ever since I got a promotion at work and moved from working class to upper middle class, like all my peers I am now deeply concerned about climate change and feel a psychotic level of unhinged hatred for people who do not elevate Greta Thunberg to the level of greatest scientist who ever lived. Why only the other day I condescended to a flight crew member on Emerites first class that their vegan option did not list the food miles on the packaging.

Anyway, as we are all in agreement that sea levels are rising and Dublin and Cork will be under water within a decade, I am at a loss as to why this airport - serving a nation that sunk below the waves in 2012 like Al Gore said it would - has managed to get built? Are these people insane? Should we invade and force them to get back under the sea?

It'd certainly have made more sense for them to build a new port instead.

All they need to do is build a well around it that's 1 metre higher than the sea outside.

They also built a new 3400m x 60m runway on Malé, right alongside the existing 3200m runway. The new one is complete but not yet in use - winter 2022, I think. However, an Air India A320 neo did land on it by mistake during its construction back in 2018. Luckily, nobody was hurt.

I think Trump should have built a well close to the Mexico border. Actually more of an oasis in the desert with palm trees, wooden cabins with cosy beds and incense and stash of weed, a constant supply of of exotic fruit brought in by camel. Make it nice and comfy so that if any would be illegal immigrant finds it they'll quickly lose their desire to go to de States. Probably cheaper than what he actually ended up building
