This is the one we have and its also anti-glare so less fingerprints show up. The applicator makes it very easy to get right first time. We had it with us when we picked up so there were no fingerprints underneath.

Noticed last weekend, when I finally gave the car a good clean and polish, that even with the paint protection film applied when new 42k ago, I have gotten some impact marks in the door aperture edge just where the stone chip film ends. There is a reason why Peugeot and others started to use extra protection at the lower door aperture corners back in the early 90's.

Pictures to follow as well as list of products when I get it sorted out. A couple of the marks are through the paint so it's a good to plan to get it nipped in the bud before any further deterioration. Middle of the bonnet lid has also an impact mark, as well the RHD wing, so will get those touched up at the same time.

Apart from these small issues the paint looks really good and unmarked on our 2021 MIC build.

Activity at Shanghai Port as Tesla prepares for another huge shipment. For anyone who has not seen this level of scale watch at the 3 minute section of the Youtube vid...for those who have, apologies. Helps give better understanding of logistical challenge of deliveries to their new owners.

Hi, have my RWD model 3 since March, and I’ve noticed in the last couple of weeks my traction control light going off under normal acceleration. It only seems to happen when going over speed bumps or uneven surface I’ve been in contact with Tesla and they logged on remotely and can’t find any faults and seem to think it’s behaving normally . I had to replace a rear tyre back at the start of May because of a puncture, I got the exact same tyre and all pressure’s are the same. Anybody else have same issues ?

While I don’t have the Tesla yet, same happened with the ID3 also when going over speed bumps, no other issues, happened few times, then disappeared , I didn’t call any one and was not overly worried, just wait and watch !

Yeah, it’s a bit of a head scratcher, it came out of nowhere. It doesn’t happen on flat surface or from a standing start.

My appeal to the M3 and Tesla in general is the lack of buttons :)

I will not be adding any 😃

But, it’s your car my man. You do what you need 😎

I’m using this one. I also wear polorised sun glasses and it’s all good.

It’s a Matt look to try reduce fingerprints, which it does. I’ve also cleaned and coated mine with a Quick Detailer called Beadmaker which reduces finger marks significantly!

You can kinda see the screen in the below pic but the pic was primarily taken of the gloss centre console.

Totally agree that what makes the Tesla different!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,614 ✭✭✭eagerv

A pity you cannot resize that piece of the screen, agree it is a bit oversized with very little functionality.

But as someone who was a bit worried about the simplicity and lack of buttons of the Tesla, I very quickly realised it is much simpler and less confusing than other cars..

It was smaller before, but a software update made it way bigger than it needs to be!

Musk did promise after the initial backlash that it would be customisable in the future, but to date we still can’t adjust it…

My biggest miss from the S to the 3 is the door handles and auto present.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,373 ✭✭✭MightyMunster

It's an added security feature 😁

Have had a few sentry mode clips of people trying and failing to use the handle

Question on chargers found out and about that aren't Tesla super chargers...there are quite a few i.e. Ionity, ESB, GoCharge

Does everyone actually sign up to all these or is there a pay as you go model available where you don't need cards/accounts/apps out the wazoo

Also, do all these third party chargers show up on the map in the M3? Or is it just super chargers?

I signed up for ChargeMap which works for a lot of networks in Ireland but main benefit is for driving in France and elsewhere on the continent.

It uses a card but has different plans: PAYG and monthly subs. I’m happy to pay the premium for PAYG for the few times I’d use it over a year.

May as well sign up for Ecars and EasyGo anyway.

In 3years I've never used Ecars at all and only free AC chargers from EasyGo (these all seem to be changing to paid e.g. Lidl)

Ionity I've used a few times but you can sign up in a few minutes if you think you'll use it on a trip.

Depending on your driving you may only use public charging once or twice a year and maybe never need anything other than Tesla.

Other chargers can be shown on the Tesla map but it's not 100% up to date

I'd recommend plugshare for showing all chargers including obscure ones in shopping centres etc...again if you have home charging you probably won't bother paying for these as would be more expensive and more hassle than just charging at home.

I would agree if you live in a major city/town like Dublin and dont venture out very often, but if you are planning on travelling beyond the pale, I would suggest eCars at the very least is a must, especially in the far west & north. You dont want to find yourself trapped trying to setup an account in order to get a charge if you start to venture off the motorways. I also subscribe to EasyGo.

For anyone who is eligible for a fuel card through their work or company, DCI have a card that is a life saver that will also allow EV charging at ESB, Ionity & ChargePoint on a single RFID card.

With all of the providers I've signed up, if there is an option get an RFID card/tag, I suggest getting these as they are handy to leave in your car and can save messing around with apps - may not be a bother to some, but if you're DC charging on a regular basis these save messing around with apps.

Definitely get an eCars card when you sign up for an account….

I was waiting for a charge one day and a taxi driver couldn’t stop his charge as the eCars network was down and he still hadn’t received his card!!!

its not the 1st time too that I’ve noticed the eCars app dead because of network issues….. a physical rfid card means you never need to worry about such issues.

What kind of insurance do people here generally use? Comprehensive? Theft?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,344 ✭✭✭✭ELM327

I think you would struggle to get any insurance on a 50k car that isnt comprehensive

Got a text from Tesla today to schedule my collection date and time but when I click the link there's no slots available I'd say it's too early knowing the cars won't be here for another few weeks?

Also did everyone pay for their deposit already? I'm in the middle of selling my car privately and I was wondering did anyone accept Revolut as payment before when selling their car? It'll be 20k+ transfer to revolut account I'd assume its safe as any other bank now? once the money is in my account I can transfer it over to my BOI acc.

Got a text a while ago, link worked for me, picked the wrong date and time!

    1. any one knows how to change that?
    2. aldo it say delivery location Baldonell, can we request a delivery in Sandyford? Or everyone one here is Baldonell?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,158 ✭✭✭Enigma IE

1 - probably best to reach out to Tesla to see if it can be changed

2 - was only offered Baldonnel, I believe it’s the NVD, open to correction. Assume much more space there (over Sandyford) to handover cars. It’s also more accessible.

Again, no harm reaching out to Tesla.
