I think you might have touched a nerve with the poster in residence! The retired cook/ teacher who never appeared to grasp the difference between your and you're or there and their!

Youghal would be a town with failing tourism. I live near it.

A, the old raw nerve side swipe, resident Poster nonsense, retired Cook (if only you knew) , and Tullamore now apparently in Cork , I'm utterly bewildered .

And yet, not a word of revelence to the Thread , no substance , extraordinary. I can think of a different Residency that involves a Big Top Tent 😏 can I say TENT ..

I can see more hotels in small town in Waterford, Wexford even that will take up refugees for the winter. Know a few hotels in Waterford that would have quiet off peak footfall.

Does anybody here know of Ukrainian refugees that have been housed with a family who have offered to host through the Red Cross . I ask because I know of several people who have offered accommodation since last March and no-one has contacted them to actually take up that accommodation or even inspect it

Morning, yes indeed it's all about the catcha deflection nonsense 🙄 no substance 😏

We have a family since June 1st via IOM who got the details from Red Cross

Slightly off topic but may, Just may be connected shortly. I recall people saying how simply wonderful the UK governments approach was to Ukrainian refugees. Not quite it would seem.

I listen occasionally to LBC such is the mediocrity of Irish Radio in the morning, particularly "Morning Ukraine" on RTE Radio 1.

It would seem the UK has no plan either , quite a kerfuffle brewing as the 6 month Hosting plan unravels . Ukrainian Refugees essentially have to registered themselves homeless to get on Housing lists and may get assistance in finding accommodation. One Cawlur who's hosted feel the 6 months she's offered is enough and now in a situation we're she has to Evict her guests and do it in writing so the Ukrainian family, she says are wonderful might, just might get assistance and can register as homeless.

    Clip available on Twitter.

Any guesses Folks as to what might happen next 🤔 ( and it won't require rubber Dingys)

Like musical tents and camp-beds at this point.

Some serious and long overdue cop-on required for this country

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,200 ✭✭✭✭Dempo1

Indeed we have and its likely to increase substantially very shortly .

Most were passing through to get here , now those actually resident in the UK for 6 months will likely be arriving here on top of the 7k already expected.

Not at all sure, this along with other absurd notions was intended RE the EU Directive, of course the UK not in the UK, nor is it a conflict Zone , that I'm aware of.

Refugees, not "refugees"... seen any photos of Mariupol or Bucha lately?

What service cuts have you experienced, personally. Be specific.

I've not seen any photos of Mariupol or Bucha ( a city with a rather Grim History) recently, seems Journalists have moved elsewhere 🤔

I've seen some lovely pictures Sun worshippers on a lovely beach somewhere in Ukraine.

Some images from Chernivtsi., IvanoFrankivsk. Kalush. Kolomiya.Kamenets Podolskiy. Khmelnitsky.Brody.Chervonohrad where it seems quite enough,

    hope my spelling satisfactory.

Reports that it's rather quite in the area highlighted too 🤔

Are all refugees in Ireland from Mariupol or Bucha? Do you have any proof of this?

You're grand.. I'll stick with "refugees" seeing as many now seem to be economic migrants, including migrants from other places trying to get on the freebie bandwagon.

As for your second point - read this thread or even the mainstream media at this point about the effects this idiocy is having on service provision. I thought anecdotal evidence was generally not enough for advocates like yourself, but there's plenty of reports here.

As for the emotive "seen any photos" bit... I have sympathy absolutely for the victims, but it's not our war or responsibility and we're already doing more than enough to help as it is, so your transparent "think of the children" bit is wasted on me I'm afraid.

It's not Ireland’s responsibility to save the victims of whatever from wherever. We have our own problems and people who need that support and finite resources to provide it.

That's where our efforts need to be. Not inviting thousands upon thousands of people to these shores with promises of freebies and handouts. - especially when we can't even handle the ones who are already here!

I can Answer that 🙏 Zero, Zilch , Nada.

Infact I recall a young chap in the studio audience, from Mariupol featuring on the Claire Byrne show at the very start of this and he wasn't alone , a few on the live line program last March , Duffys pronunciation of Mariupol is actually quite amusing, not that I'd wish to take away from the Battle there that ended a month ago.

Proof please, that no refugees here from Mariupol or Bucha.

Please go back and read my post in response to a query from another if "All" refugees in Ireland are from these cities 🤔 perhaps when you come back could you highlight were I actually said NO refugees from these cities are in Ireland, indeed, perhaps you missed my comment re the Claire Byrne Show 🤔

Dempo, someone has asked you a question "Are all refugees in Ireland from Mariupol or Bucha? Do you have any proof of this?"

You've answered "I can Answer that  Zero, Zilch , Nada."

That's very clear. Stop prevaricating and back up your claims with proof

life is extremely difficult in some southern parts of Ukraine . You cannot even imagine the obstacles in the way of normal life . An occupied city may be quiet but life is by no means easy

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,200 ✭✭✭✭Dempo1

Any pictures from the 80% of Ukraine not under occupation or subject to military action for the past 3 months to share 🤔

No . I dont but my reply was about you saying it seemed to be quiet in the occupied zones . Quiet maybe , easy definitely not

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,200 ✭✭✭✭Dempo1

Occupied Zones 🤔 if I said that , I was mistaken, I'm referring to the 80% of Ukraine not Occupied, actually its slightly more than 80%

Do we have facts on numbers how many have been displaced and living in other parts of Ukraine? 🤔🤔

Last figure I saw was mid June and circa 7/8 million displaced internally in Ukraine

    Ha, morning Ukraine is right!

On the rte news website , Ukraine is the first segment (Ireland is the fourth!!) climate change + COVID are 2+3, naturally!

Not exactly. If you actually read the link you would see this

“Department rates point to €135 paid per night for each single adult on a full-board basis in Dublin. And an additional €25 would be paid for each additional spouse or child. The payments are likely to drop for properties outside the capital.”
