Thanks for the advice and good shout with the traffic exiting the car park.

We always get a lot of crossover with EOTR and there are loads of excellent acts there, some of which will end up at EP. I don’t care if there are no major acts on the way, I just want 6/7 great young acts and there’s not a hope in hell we won’t get them.

Would like to see from EOTR

    Aldous Harding

    Newdad

    Yard act

    Battles

Few more in there that I'd have to delve into like Snapped Ankles and Emma Jean Thackery.

So are Bright eyes, in fairness. Well, Vicar Street. Who knows, eh?. Let's be optimistic, Fanirish.

I presume we're getting announcements when ATN tickets go on sale.... I thought we'd have announcements on Friday

    I'd say that's a good guess.

Pals enjoying ATN, one of whom bumped into @rubick and DeskTidy (had previously met them at Glasto). A lot of great young Irish acts there, wouldn't have minded a few days in Waterford. To those there hope all is good and enjoy the sunshine tomorrow.

We're gonna ditch the picnic next year for ATN. I've been to 13 picnics so far but I've no time for the way FR reat the punters. I used to love the salty dog, that's now fucked. If the picnic was a free flow event I'd enjoy it much more. I don't like Heineken, the stout or their Cider. I'll be drinking vodka all weekend. Only saving grace I have being in eco camping for when security is a bit relaxed

It'll be a joy to be camping next to you this year Declan. 😁

Hoping orbital are announced. They're playing gigs in England in the run up to the picnic. Wishful thinking. Leftfield in the electric arena would be class. Also hoping that the blaze get announced, they're playing London and Paris festivals the week before

Hang in there lads. I get it. It's wet, we've been waiting 8 years for an announcement and all those bastards are down there in Waterford listening to Nick Cave with a free flow can of craft beer in their hands. Our turn will come.

In a proactive move, I've decided to spend some time this evening listening to Bug Club, playing EOTR EP weekend (very good) and trying out Whiplash Rollover session IPA, as recommended by Rubick and some helpful heads on the ATN thread (very tasty) in my search for a Summery tipple that won't blow the head off me. So that's a productive evening.

A lovely summery tipple that's only 3.9% is Mikkeler Raspberry Berliner weiss, a bit tart, I love a sour so its not to everyone's taste.

For me it’s Yellowbelly’s magnificent Citra Pale Ale to a soundtrack of Bobbie Gentry and also Mercury Rev doing Bobbie Gentry. None of whom will alight in Autumnal Stradbally.

Bug Club would be good for EP. Must also try Whiplas Rollover OPA.

That sounds incredible, Poorside. I feel I'd have to have an outfit to go with it. I'll defo give it a rattle next week. Would they have it in O'Brien's, do you reckon?

    The Whiplash was lovely, 3.8%.

Tonight, it's Weights and Measures by Galway Bay brewery, on the recommendation of @jimosterberg in the ATN thread, another beautiful, fruity drop, only 3%!! I could drink that all day!!

    can-weights.png

Both that and the Whiplash going for €2 a pop in O'Brien's in Naas at the moment.

Fingers crossed we'll have some music to talk about soon.

Any reports on Master Cave last night at ATN, that was my big FOMO, even went to bed depressed!

All these reports of cheap tickets on d usual sites did not help!

Haven’t seen him since Kilmainham in ‘18!

Jeaz, the moaning on the ATN fb page throughout the weekend😂 I just don’t understand it! You’re at a festival, downtown-craic’town why are you on Facebook complaining?

Decathlon seem to be the go to guys for the camping stuff alright. I got this lad last week..

    Screenshot_20220801-140946_Chrome.jpg

A couple of blows and it inflates itself, not luxury but actually pretty comfy, dead neat, folds away in a little bag.

The absolute neck of me, giving camping advice.

Its 4pm for campsite entry on the Thursday.

In 2019, i think i was parked up just before 3pm, and there was a q of maybe 100’ish at that stage, all fine, but looks like a bigger Thursday Early Entry this time around, i thought it was about 10,000 in 2019, could be way off though ?

Just back from ATN, stunning weekend, everything about the festival this time around was on the money. Just a perfectly sized festival with the right demographic. I'm looking forward to my 10th EP but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't apprehensive about the 70k capacity.

Argos also have a good selection, but prices for camping stuff seems to have risen sharply!! I paid €15 for the classic generic folding chair with can holder, which were €8-10 in the past, even €5 if you got a lucky sale.

I’ve found taking an air mattresses to be a lot of work, carrying (Weight) & inflating them. Can be cold, especially around EP time, as you’re sleeping on a column of air (even though they have built in insulation) They can also go porous over time, you go to sleep on full inflation but you’re pretty much on the ground in the morning.

Moved to a camping mat, haven’t looked back since, take a spare sleeping bag for underneath, almost as comfy as a bed! Needless to say you need to carefully pick your tent spot, soft grass, smooth underneath, away from rocks or tractor tyre marks.

New tent needed this year, had considered an “air” tent (without poles and easy assembly) anyone tried them?

Arrived a bit later than you and had a much different experience, the queue was pretty long and extended through the forest, across the road into the car parks. One gate open (paintball) and about 8 ppl total doing wristband and searching bags.

There wasn’t any provision made for people re-entering I.e. a dedicated wristband lane, and many seemed to be double tripping, I.e. Tent first, other stuff in from the car on a second trip, this just added to the queue. Didn’t realise this and we got caught out coming in the 2nd time, the queue was twice the size as the first time, naively thought we could take a side lane as we already had wristbands, but this wasn’t the case and it turned out most we talked to in the queue were in the same boat.

In 2012 the capacity was 35k, but it was a poor year only 22k in attendance. If 20k early entry this year, I really hope they have all gates and car parks open. Quite a difficult trek from the paintball entrance down the rough forest path to the Eco campsite.

What sort of moaning? The thread on here seems to be unanimously positive feedback. Skipped this year, wasnt willing to risk being stuck for 8 hours in traffic, of they've sorted it out, I'll likely go next year

In my fragile state post ATN I could really do with a big EP announcement, still holding out for a couple of large act, Foals would be incredible, there is a lack of an stage electronic acts for late night, I'd love Orbital again, 10 years since they last played but they seem to be doing Aiken and POD gigs last few years, perhaps Bicep which would be very decent.

Zero issues with traffic, organisers played a blinder from what I saw.
