Clubs that a taking new members - 11 year old

Hi,

I am looking for suggestions and advice to get my wildly enthusiastic 11 year old daughter in to an athletics club. We live in Dundrum . I have tried Dundrum South Dublin Athletics Club (where her cousins are) and Cabinteely, they are either not taking members at that age or are full. Does anyone have any other suggestion in the general area?

My daughter (13) joined a junior club in rathfarnham last year. Not sure of the contact details etc as my wife organised it but a quick Google might put you right.

It might not be the case there but sometimes if you offer to help out at the training sessions clubs can increase their capacity at an age-group.

While looking for a club, get her to run in the parkrun junior for fun. You might meet other mentors from junior clubs there also.

Also if she has a talent for running, it will be noticed there and clubs will make space quick enough. But don't say that to the kid, let the kid do it for fun and enjoy it.
