Family Link on child's iphone

hi i am trying to get a phone for my 14yrs old, yes due to school work they all need a phone, i have a old iphone available however it appears that family link children and teens doesn't work on iphone , only the parent can use the app on iphone and not the child's iphone am i correct on this? i have tried parental control…

i have tried parental control on iphone and i am not 100% if its working since i cannot see wat he is doing on the iphone...
this is rather frustrating and confusing to be honest

When I used Family link the app was on my phone and I could use the features to track my son's phone, block app installations, block web searches and set time limits. There wasn't much involvement from mu son's. I just needed it at the start to complete the setup. This was Android mind you
