Hi everyone, I accepted a position that required me to consent to employer screening from Vero Screening and I am wondering what everyone's experience of this service is? They're a UK screening company AFAIK. What is their process? Do they contact past colleges, employers etc directly?

Anyone got any thoughts on pre-employment background checks? Seems like Vero claims to do a lot more than check your references - they contact your universities to see if you actually studied there, they check your credit history, run a police background check. I thought that this would not be possible in Ireland due to GDPR. The job I'm applying for is not one which requires Garda vetting, and my employer are not a lending institution so they have no legitimate purpose in checking my credit history. So what are they actually able to do?

They can see any data about you, provided you consent. Good luck with being considered for the job if you don't consent.

There ard jobs outside finance where your credit history can be relevant.

I consented to them processing my data, but don't remember consenting to them accessing my credit report etc.
