I tried a vpn to update my account number but netflix sought a phone number. I tried sms-activate but netflix would not send a text to the number and I received the following error message, "Sorry, something went wrong. Please try again later."

I ended up following the advice here and asked live chat to process my payment in chat.

    It worked!!!

    Thanks for the posts folks

Thanks. I think I'm sorted. Agent today didn't interrogate me.

Will know for sure 17th when payment is due 🤞

I got through to an agent, they gave me the form, all good - entered my new revolut number but then got an error. 1st time it filled in from google payments, 2nd time I manually typed it in. But neither time was I asked for CVC or account name - only the card number.

Any ideas? Was on VPN at time

Other than try again I don't know.

My form had all cc fields. Was on vpn and incognito

I've been working my way back through this thread and finally decided to give the Turkish Netflix option a go. Hit a problem though when trying to renew......any ideas if I've done something wrong below?

    • Added my (fairly new) Revolut card as the main payment option on my Irish Netflix account.
    • Transferred €5 to Turkish Lira on my Revolut.
    • Cancelled the subscription and let it expire.
    • Used Hide.me vpn to change location to Turkey and browse to the Netflix site.
    • Logged in using my usual details, got the different subscription renewal options in TL prices. However, when I try to hit the "start membership" option, I get an error "There appears to be a problem with the payment method you are trying to use."

I didn't think I'd have to contact the chat support, given that my Revolut card was added with no issues prior to letting the subscription lapse?

Do I need to do anything on the Revolut card to make TL the default currency or something like that?

    Cheers.

Have you Euro's on the Revolut account? I'm not sure if that matters but worth a try I suppose to get rid of the Euros and just have Lira on there. I set mine up years ago when it was easier but I did recently have to change the card due to Revolut changing the cards. I just added the new card as a backup and then changed it to main card and I have no issues since.

Thanks for the suggestion but unfortunately it didn't do the trick. Only have Turkish Lira now sitting in my Revolut account now but still getting the payment error.

Some people have reported that it suddenly takes if you keep trying. Did you try a different VPN?

On a side point, lira is a third if it's value from when I first signed up to Turkey in 2018 so it's still cheaper even with all the price rises

See netflix have emailed introducing Home, so you've to pay more to have accounts outside of the home.

No Argentina. They've done this with 5 Latin American countries

Might be time to move to Turkey

It's a test on Latin American subs. I got the same and I'm on Argentina. What's the best way to change to Turkey

I don't get how it works. My IP could change daily at home and some in family might use it when travelling to work etc.

Think its on the same premise of the SKy Go accounts. I think it will detect if something is being used on a different IP address for a period of more than 2 weeks and will force you to add a new 'home' for it.

Read an aritcle that said they were also prompting the leech accounts to set up their own user / pass and payment of the extra amount.

I have an Argentina account (4x Premium at 9.60 p/m) , just stumbled on to my netflix account on a laptop , no vpn or anything and added my new revolut card and it took ARS10 and reverted it straight away on my revolut and seems to be added no problem.

Will just switch preference and thats me sorted

Only thing that irks me is that i will now have to pay for the extra leeches i gave the deets to. will push it to about 13e. Would like to get a turkish account going now....

Im thinking of the amount of VPN usage I do to find stuff I want on Netflix globally. Even without sharing my password, it'll not like my various global homes

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,189 ✭✭✭BKWDR

Maybe the 2 week rule wont affect that kind of once off usage

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,117 ✭✭✭✭TheDriver

You'd wonder if they'd loose customers quickly. If my turkish acc went, I don't think I'd subscribe reg prices, just too expensive for amount watched. just like prime or Disney+

I have smart dns enabled at home, and I know from checking getflix pages that my IP address changes almost daily - so how would that work?

Christ, that's complicated and annoying, would turn me against any company doing that. I like to bring my fire stick when travelling so they'd think I've houses everywhere. I wonder could you rename the fire stick as a mobile device?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,843 ✭✭✭✭Kolido

It says you can use it up to 2 weeks so for travelling there should be no ploblem. The killer might be blocking vpn use for me. I dont use it do much on NF but I do on Prime, hopefully they don't bring in the same.

I wonder how would this Netflix Homes affect someone who is supposed to be living in Turkey. Would Ireland be considered my 2 week holiday?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,189 ✭✭✭BKWDR

So far it's only a selection of Latin American countries

Same as that, only reason I still have Netflix is because Turkey is so cheap. It is absolutely not worth the Irish prices. If my Turkish account goes then it'll be back to piracy for me.

Have gone back a fair few pages of threads now and cant seem to see anyone who has recent success of setting up a new turkish sub.

Anyone refer me to recent post or does the OP stand true still?

Kind of raging I used my new revolut card to update payment method for ARG account. It surely will be flagged now if i pull a turkish number

I've had a Turkish netflix sub a little over a year now, but I managed to add a backup payment card (Revolut virtual MasterCard) tonight. I was asked for a Turkish number to receive an SMS on when I tried to add the new card. There is a method to obtain a temporary Turkish number to receive a verification text for Netflix.

I used my computer to login to Netflix and update the card information, and I used an app called PingMe on my phone (I use android, there is an IOS version too) to receive a verification SMS on a Turkish number. There is also a web based version of PingMe, but I haven't tried that. If anyone tries the web or IOS versions of PingMe to receive a verification text for Netflix, let us know how you get on.

Here's how I got my payment information updated:

    1. Switch on the VPN provider, obviously set to Turkey
    2. Clear your browser's history.
    3. I used Brave as my browser and opened a new private window. Incognito mode will likely do the same in Chrome
    4. Login in to Netflix and head over to the account section of the site and add your card details
    5. To get a Turkish number, download PingMe from your app store and open up the app, or use the web version (payment options may differ, I don't know how they work on the web version)
    6. There is a charge for receiving the text from Netflix, it cost me $0.75 to receive the text.
    7. I used my e-mail account to set up a PingMe account on the app.
    8. Once your account is set up, select the Profile tab at the bottom of the app and use the recharge option to top up your account. It used the Google Wallet option to top up my account.
    9. After topping up your PingMe account, select the Verification tab (next to the Profile tab) at the bottom of the app. There you need to select Netflix as the App/Website to validate and Turkey as the region.
    10. Click next. You'll then receive a Turkish phone number that you can use with Netflix.
    11. Enter the number you receive on the Netflix site and wait for the text to come through on Ping Me. If it doesn't work, you have the option of trying a new number.
    12. The verification number will appear will appear in the box under "Please check the SMS below:". Enter the verification code on Netflix.

Hopefully this will work for new subs as well as those who need to update their payment information on Netflix.
