Employer pays health insurance

Bear in mind. An employer might see your medical claims & what for (health history) when you use company health insurance.

OP, to give you an example if yearly premium paid by your employer is 2000 euro it will cost you around 65 euro a month in additional tax if you are on 40% marginal tax rate.

Generally these policies are poor value until you need them.

There are waiting times for some conditions of up to 5 years when the policy gives you full cover for certain conditions - something to keep in mind depending on what age you are.

Another thing to look at if the employer covers age loading, mine did but only if the policy was taken within 6 months of starting employment. After that I would have to pay the difference separately.

You can also avail of tax credit of 1000 per adult and 500 per child when employer paid your premiums.

It's your choice at the end of the day, but I agree health insurance is expensive, even if someone pays it for you.
