Rigid forks , hard to find and pricey too!

Hi ,

I'm trying to convert a MTB for more general use.

Went looking for a tapered steerer rigid fork.

They cost crazy money. Like even more than suspension forks.

I see cheap carbon ones for around €150 on aliexpress though. Anyone one have experience with those or are they deathtraps?

Aliexpress is a minefield but a quick bit of googling will bring you to the more reputable suppliers. Maybe if you put up more specific specs someone would have recommendations or if you put up links, at least see if there are any definitive don't go near it warnings.

I was also looking at carbon forks too and for example the richey forks are very pricy https://ritcheylogic.com/bike/forks

Mosso is one brand that I have seen been used a bit and can be found on aliexpress. Chinese carbon forks are much more durable than carbon seatposts/handlebars.

I bought a rigid kenesis (?) alu fork off bike24 or bike components for 150 a year or 2 ago. Its very light compared to a suspension fork, so much so I wouldn't bother with carbon, I converted a hardtail for just spinning on gravel trails, single track etc and its done the job really well. Pointed it down one or 2 mellow enduro trails too and came out the other end. Shaken but smiling
