Companies for Flooring & Carpets in the area

Hi,

I'm buying a new home in Newbridge and wanted to ask for recommendation for companies in the area. It's a duplex and will planning to use carpets in second floor and probably laminate below plus tiles for the kitchen.

Shopping around already but any recommendation would be appreciated!

Carpetright are in Naas (on the Newbridge side) beside Currys and Harvey Norman's. They sell the products and can arrange for them to be fitted too.

Known by many as CarpetShite. Way overpriced and will try and upsell every possible extra and charge very handsomely for all the trims.

They'd be the one company I'd avoid at all costs. and DO NOT believe their so called "sales".

When I lived in Kildare I always used Shay Dowling in Toughers Business Park. https://www.shaydowlingcarpets.ie/ Not the cheapest (cheaper than carpetright) but the job was done to perfection. Michael Murphy used to have a good name too, but they seem to have the "lets create a false rrp and pretend its discounted" disease too and as such you can't really know if you are getting value or paying too much.

I visited 3 stores last Saturday, CarpetRight, Des Kelly, Right Price Tiles. In case anyone is interested, I will put my thoughts about it here.

Right Price Tiles had some good prices, in my view, for tiles, porcelain and laminates but they only sell materials and not offering fitting services. I liked their selection though.

CarpetRight gave me a quote for a 2 bedroom 56 sqm + stairs.

€2140 for materials + €290 fitting; 3-4h job. This is based on a carpet of €25 per sqm.

I wasn't very happy with their selection and prices are a bit higher than other places for sure.

I'm waiting on a quote from Des Kelly for both carpets and laminates but so far I was very happy with the sales person who helped me and their selections.

My friends got a quote from Des Kelly for laminate on their 3 bedroom, 2 floors home for €3600 for materials and €940 for labor. This is laminate for the whole house, excluding stairs and kitchen. 1-2 days labor

Hope this helps anyone on the same journey.
