I didn’t call everyone racist. Off again on the standard game plan of lying to deflect

Again we are supposed to be having a “debate” and people “are interested in politics” and you are talking about cockroaches

no they won’t, this is rubbish to keep the mob online happy and to deflect from the actual discussion the government need to have

    How self serving.

'When the time is right' ?

'When I (a supporter of the government) think the time is right' is what you mean

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,132 ✭✭✭✭is_that_so

Nope, I have no idea when there will be one. Practically speaking this is not the time, two months out from the Budget and it is a sitting government call when we get one. That's politics for ya!

I.E. when YOU think it is right.

Sorry, we aren't subject to your approval.

Dail dissolution comes about when the Taoiseach goes to the President to request to do so. Them's the facts and I have no influence over when that happens in any way, although I do think this is definitely the wrong time for it. If you think that Michael D would allow that off a MoNC, two years into government, you are mistaken. The Dail arithmetic suggests other possible governments and he would send him straight back to sort it out as is his right.

It's a pity you lot think coming on here and laughing at people stuck in housing crisis is acceptable. It is not.

If the best you can do then is start lying about a poster and using silly emoji's that's not debating.

    Time to cop on.

P.S. you seem to have an issue with your keyboard, when you are bashing it the caps keeps getting left on.

although I do think this is definitely the wrong time

Thank you for clarifying. It's just your opinion.

Do I need to again remind some of the amount of times FG pushed MONC and at a time Ireland faced an unprecedented financial crisis 🤔

Debate 🤔 seriously , there's numerous definitions of what it means to debate , this one for example.

Debate' carries the idea of more intellectual discussion about disagreement when used this way, as opposed to 'argument', which implies a more emotion driven quarrel.

Unfortunately when reasoned argument is put forward , especially with facts supplied it's greeted with......

    DEFLECTION

"To attack or blame another person rather than accepting criticism or blame for your own actions: When someone deflects, they are trying to feel less guilty, avoid negative consequences, and put the blame on others. The guilty person deflects their guilt onto the person who is accusing them or onto another person"

I've never claimed to be a Political Junkie or Knowledgeable about politics generally, indeed I had little interest in Politics until the Pandemic started but now very Tuned in and my word my eyes were opened, no more so towards end of last government and essentially the entire period of this Government.

I'd wager , more and more folks , not remotely interested in Politics and how it affects their daily lives have started paying more attention and scrutinising every decision, lack of decision and actions or lack of action, this actually seems to irritate certain politicians and their supporter's.

Government can't of course be blamed for everything but my god, by any reasonable measure this and the previous governments performance and indeed numerous scandals has been shocking.

Some people are paying more attention

Let's make is easier, when was the last time you posted something mildly critical of the opposition?

Paying attention and blindly pushing the agenda of the opposition are two totally different things. Don't expect voters in Ireland don't scrutinise the opposition as well as the government parties which a lot of people on here seem incapable of doing.

In terms of the government, well in my opinion. FG I have never voted for them and that won't change. I certainly wouldn't because of Leo and the children hospital when he should have put into Blanchardstown. P.S. I have always said that

FF, well MM needs to go now, if he doesn't in the next election they will be hammered

Greens, I see them doing a lot of good but instead of going more hardline they have softened when we need them to be more hardline.

Apologies, is this Thread about the Opposition 🤔 have I missed something 🤔

Pushing an agenda BA 🤔 You've been the cheerleader in that regard .

You can't have just FF go , that's not how coalition government works I'm afraid.

As for the Greens , no right thinking person denies their intentions may be laudable but my heavens , they've gone about achieving their Goals in the most extraordinarily incoherent manner. I've repeatedly said change is needed , I'm not particularly happy I depend on Turf but I am ,that's just a simple fact , sure there's grandiose plans, schemes to address retrofitting, insulation etc but the harsh reality is that even with Grants these schemes are out of reach for many and besides at current rates of demand it will be years before some folks will even get a quote.

Greens have also made some astonishing Gaffs and that's also abundantly clear .

I'm happy to be critical of opposition TD'S, some are just out there but they are not making the decisions and I'll be the first to call out half brained notions and have.

I absolutely don't want unstable Government but at this stage the incumbents have lost all sense of reality , have utterly failed to read the room and frankly don't seem to care a Jot about public sentiment.

O'Donovan getting a hammering on RTE at the moment, only answer he has is the tired accusations that has FF FG polling as they are.

Jesus Francie, you have some serious conspiracy theory stuff going on.

Uber got nowhere in Ireland because the government ignored their lobbying, and you somehow think this is wrong???!!???

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,132 ✭✭✭✭is_that_so

It's a very pragmatic opinion. The effect on extending out timelines of any change to government suggest it would be unwise too. Anyway Michael D would reject it and send them straight back. The incumbents plus two or more Indos is almost instantly achievable and a new government.

SF know they are not going to force an election even though the government has lost its majority. The reason why they know this is because convicted criminals like Michael Lowry (so corrupt even FG didn't want him) will vote for them.

But the vote smokes out the scumbags who support vote FF/FG

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,260 ✭✭✭Peter Flynt

    The mob?

I think you mean voters at the next general election.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,132 ✭✭✭✭is_that_so

That would be all in FF/FG and the Greens plus a few Indos. This is nothing new at all. It's how these votes tend to go.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,132 ✭✭✭✭is_that_so

Voters are mob-like when it suits them, though generally not without good reason.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 78,730 ✭✭✭✭FrancieBrady

How do you know they 'ignored' it? Maybe they were engaged in transactional politics and Uber didn't come up to muster?

We don't know what happened and it needs to be looked at.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 78,730 ✭✭✭✭FrancieBrady

So you are telling us that a President who recognises the failures of this government on housing, is going to send them back? Yeh right.

No theory. It may be innocent it may be not.

You are the one with the defensive 'theory' before we know all that went on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,132 ✭✭✭✭is_that_so

The Constitution says he has absolute discretion in the matter so that power is there yes. There is also a proviso to elect an alternative Taoiseach anyway in the wake of a loss to a MoNC. It's what happened in 1994.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,195 ✭✭✭✭blanch152

The MONC isn't about Sinn Fein getting a general election and going into government. They are playing a longer game.

After the last general election, no serious political party was willing to do business with Sinn Fein because of what they are. They are now focussed on eliminating the rest of the opposition parties and the Greens. They are not aiming to take FF or FG seats next time out. They want to take out the smaller parties. In Dublin West, that means SF taking a second seat by taking out Roderic O'Gorman, in Dublin Central, it means taking out Gary Gannon, in Dublin South-West it means taking out Paul Murphy etc. etc.

That is why Mary-Lou is making this about which opposition TDs oppose the government.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 78,730 ✭✭✭✭FrancieBrady

And in your opinion he will send them back even though he recognises without any doubt one of the main reasons why the MONC was brought in the first place?

    Again: yeh right.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,132 ✭✭✭✭is_that_so

Sure but that is counterproductive as our political landscape is now quite fractured, like all European countries. Every party needs to assume that they will have to do deals. Taking out potential partners is not the way to do that. They may have success with the SDs but the Greens have a wider appeal. They will still be faced with a need to play nice and that loses them votes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,260 ✭✭✭Peter Flynt

Anyone who doesn't vote for me FF/FG is "de mob".

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,132 ✭✭✭✭is_that_so

If you say so. You clearly have your own opinion on this but we'll never know as he won't be called on to consider it. Moving on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,201 ✭✭✭✭Dempo1

Did some say Serious Parties 🤔 surely they can't be thinking of FFGG who between them can barely muster up a Majority in the current Dail, that by any definition is unstable Government.

Actually "de mob" have taken electoral baseball bats to the Greens, Labour frequently and FF at different times, FG too have suffered their ire. They are not exclusive, if they want to punish a party they will.
