Recording from Tape / MD to MP3

    Hey,

    I have a tape from way back and I would like to record it onto my computer. I have a Hi-Fi with both tape and MiniDisc on it, so obviously I can get the contents of the tape onto a Minidisc, but that doesn't really help me :p

    The Hi-Fi is fairly recent so I'm sure it has all the input output ports I would need, the problem is, I don't know what cables to get. Do I need to connect into the Auxillary port on the PC?

    Any advice or pointers to web sites would be much appreciated :)

    The easiest way would be to plug a cable into the output of the Hi-Fi, and then the other end of the cable into the Line-In on your PC Soundcard. Use some software to record to wav, and re-encode to MP3. The Cable would be a male-to-male headphone jack cable. If the Hi-Fi has auxillary out and the PC soundcard has the same IN, then that might give better quality.
