Was swimming up at the lake last week and developed a load of bites about 24-48 hours afterwards. My sister was up there yesterday and the same happened to her today. Over 60 bites have appeared on her body since her swim.

Just wondered if anyone else has experienced any incidences of itchy midge like bites after swimming in the lake....

Quite common, I'm afraid, in most lakes. I love swimming in Lough Corrib - the temperature is so much better than the bay, but I've given up due to the bites!

I think it is midges, they emerge from the water afaik and hitch a ride on a warm body and have a free meal!
