Best App for eCharging in Ireland

    Hi,

    Is there one app that is better than others showing all eCar chargers in Ireland? or do you need a few apps to cover you...

    Are there many/any free charging facilities still available in the country and is there an app that shows these?

    Plugshare is probably your best bet for viewing all charge stations in Ireland. And can be filtered by "requires fee". It's community/publicly updated, so never 100% correct.


    For starting a charge session, your best off using the app native to the charge point. Easygo let's you charge on multiple different operators units, but it's more expensive than going direct

    Yeah I'd get the ESB Ecars and EasyGo apps as they're the most common for now


    Some cars are now coming with charging cards to activate various networks. VW for example have a We Charge card which can start ESB chargers and others


    This is often at a higher price than the native app though


    Circle K and Applegreen are also installing their own chargers. Hopefully they put debit card readers on them, otherwise that'll be another app or two to install


    There's a few free chargers around, often provided by a business for customers. Lidl had free EasyGo chargers, but they're introducing charges next week


    Although free electricity is nice, it's also a bit of a pain since it encourages people to camp at the chargers


    In NI where ESB chargers are still free, there are cars that will plug into a DC chargers for an entire day, whereas down here the overstay fee kicks in after 45 mins
