Minions: The Rise Of Gru

Went to see this in IMC - Dun Laoghaire with my daughters this afternoon.

We all thoroughly enjoyed it. The minions antics kept things ticking over, quite a few laughs even from the adults!. Helped that the cinema was packed with kids, lots of cheering and laughing which added to it hugely.

There was a huge cheer and a round of applause when the "Evil Bank" teller showed a picture of his son which went completely over my head, if anyone has seen this and can explain what that was all about I'd love to know?!

Definitely recommended for family viewing fun.

Saw it earlier, its a lot of fun. The animation is flawless, as to be expected and there are some very funny moments involving the minions(of course).

Caught this today and enjoyed it (I'm a bit of a sucker for these yellow nitwits); the plot outline is similar enough to the first Minions film, but not in a way that feels like they're just doing the exact same thing again. Lots of silly slapstick fun and a couple of excellent musical gags. It seemed to go down pretty well at my screening, odds are good if you have enjoyed previous films (particularly Minions) you'll enjoy this too.

I think it is quite funny...and harmless...but some reports of them disrupting screenings, throwing bananas at the screen etc which isn't on

I'd agree with that but I'm sure (hopefully) most groups dont do that. I like the absurdity of it, plus they would have been 9 or 10 when the first film came out so kind of symbolically closing the circle on their childhood.

Kermode and Mayo have been talking about this and it sounds like a nightmare; rightly pointing out that for nervous, smaller kids, a cinema experience that should be full of fun, becomes scary surrounded by big kids rioting. Apparently despite the ban, the teens are just buying tickets for other films and sneaking into Minions.

It sounds like harmless fun in theory but TBH also sounds like teens being díckheads and thoughtless about other patrons - especially smallies.

Rioting is overstating it, but this article basically sums it up; started as something civilised but sounds like many groups have taken it too far. Basically, teenagers who probably would have been díckheads anyway.
