Well, Andy Murray's new hip is certainly serving him well!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,516 ✭✭✭✭HeidiHeidi

And a well-timed break of serve leaves him serving for the match.

Murray wins in 4 sets. You can't doubt his desire and passion, but the hip stuff has kind of caught up with him a bit alas I fear. Still on his day a dangerous opponent, Isner will try and blow him away with that big serve!

Great to see Murray back on center court again, but not sure how much further he will go. Obvious, given all his injury woes, but he's a pale shadow of his former self.

Just your average on-the-run narrow-angle backhand passing winner with one hand from a double-handed backhand player following all-court movement defence

Nadal's side of the draw both

Unlucky for Berrettini as he had come back well from his injury and grass is his best chance of competing at the sharp end of slams

The current Omicron sub-variants are just so contagious

Only half of the over 150 starting entrants to the Tour of Switzerland there recently finished due to becoming Covid positive

    Thats very dissapointing about Berretini

Time to stop testing for this variant.

you could say that but he would have already won that rally against 99% of the tour with the succession of very good shots that he had already hit.

even that very last shot only looks "poor" because Alcaraz, possibly possessing the best movement ever seen in a high-level tennis player managed to get to it, hitting that low-to-the-ground ball outstretched at full sprint having chased it from way outside the back opposite corner of the court.

against possibly anybody else it's gong to look like and be like a winner because there would be nobody there to hit it back at all, never mind in the fashion that Alcaraz did with a brilliant winner.

Berrettini out is a big blow for the tournament, probably the biggest threat to both Djokovic & Nadal gone.

Kyrgios down a break in first set to Paul Jubb...

Peniston looks to be sailing through in three sets.

I don't think Wimbledon are enforcing testing on players...they are "asking" them to test if they have COVID symptoms.

He has flu like symptoms so he would likely have struggled.

Paul Jubb takes first set against Kyrgios.

    Peniston through, very straightforward.

That clarifies that. Given that 500k people will pass through Wimbledon as spectators, having players only compulsory test, wouldn't make much sense.

Kyrgios blew Jubb away in second set 6-1.

Usual moaning and complaining from Kyrgios.

    Kyrgios takes third set.

I am not sure who is more obnoxious...him or his loud fans in the crowd.

I found a couple of good Twitter guys posting about when tickets are released so if anyone is over in London they may be of use.

Went on last night and could have had Court 1 or Centre Court for today and tomorrow

Paul Jubb has taken the 4th set on a tiebreak with kyrgios....going to a 5th!

Lot of unforced errors from Kyrgios in the tiebreak, ranting and raving....

Kyrgios serving for the match 5-3 and is broken...

    Onya Jubby!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,571 ✭✭✭✭gmisk

That break point at 5-5...is going to haunt him you would feel....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,571 ✭✭✭✭gmisk

    Yup...Kyrgios wins 5th set 7-5.

Paul Jubb really battled hard fair play to him.

Disappointing to see Kyrgios escape, but if he needed 5 sets to get past Paul Jubb then he likely won't be going much further.

Kyrgios was boasting this week how he was making Top 10 players "look ordinary" this year.

Almost came back to bite him there.

You never know with Kyrgios - he still has a decent chance of making it to the fourth round or even to the 1/4's with the draw he has though.

Geez with Berrettini out (who was in that section) he could make it to the semi-final if he keeps his sh1t together (odds against)

He's pretty much joint favourite with Tsitsipas to win that 1/4 of the draw now.

Jack Draper has taken first set against Zizou Bergs. Very solid so far.

Is John Inverdale over emphasising the effect of the wind on Centre Court ? Maybe I'm wrong as I have never been there, but I can't imagine it being much of a problem.
