Lads, is there no thread? I can’t see one.

Let me know if a fantasy league exists, if not I’ll do it tonight.

There was a league mentioned on the general racing thread probably better placed here as more might see it

No real point for a tour thread if there's going to be individual stage threads with spoilers? The general thread seems to catch the rest...

It was a joke, kind of.

I get very excited about the Tour and only really visit here for pro racing chats.

I really really need Nairoman or one of the French lads to do something magic for me to give a sht this year.

Outside of MvdP and Pinot this season has really bored the ars off me.

Raids carried out on the homes of some of the team/staff they had their hotels done last year.

    There’s no smoke without fire.

Although if they are doping, they’re not getting their moneys worth either!

They have had unreal results during the time in question. They went from winning nothing to almost winning a Giro and winning Paris Roubaix as well as racking up wins like the top teams. Definitely fire with this smoke.

    My predictions:-

Yellow: Pog (2. Rog, 3. Vlasov)

Got to think 1 and 2 are fairly safe bets (bar crazy events or falls etc.) but which way round? Heart says Roglic, head Pogacar. Then again Roglic has the better team and if used properly could really put some pressure on here. Bora have the team and the strategy to mount a proper bid assuming Vlasov is fully recovered.

    Green: Van Aert

Can't see anyone really competing with him on this. Maybe Jacobsen if he gets to the end but a pure sprinter is unlikely to be getting green I think.

    KOM: Bardet

Bardet if he is, as he says, not going for GC is not required for support outside of that so he should be looking to lose time (and the opening TT will oblige) and then go in breaks. Someone like Lenny Kamna could easily go for this but he will have another job.

My podium prediction is Pog, Vlasov and Vingegaard (sp?).

Green: van Aert. Polka dots: Pinot.

I think Roglic will crash on the cobblestones and lose minutes.

I'm going to go with Roglic, he was one (very) bad day away from winning it two years ago. And had a crash last year. There's no guarantee that Pogacar stays free from bad luck either. Plus, despite UAE strengthening, Roglic still has the better team behind him. I'd rate it more of an even match than the current odds would suggest.

I could see a Wiggins/Froome situation arise with Roglic/Vingegaard, where V is the stronger rider but is holding/held back to help Rog. Whether he's strong enough to beat Pog though...i don't think so.

He was way off Pog last year and I don't see him in the same league as Pog or Rog.

In fairness, no one is in the same league as Pogacar over 3 weeks. Roglic is closer to the level of Vingegaard than of Pogacar

A split in cross winds or a crash on the cobbles will sort that out.

Saturday going across that 15km of bridge before the finishing town could be interesting if the wind is there.

EF finally announced their team, so startlist is now confirmed, barring any last minute withdrawals due to covid or otherwise

It's 2 years ago now but Rog was a lot closer than Vini to beating Pog. I still think that Tour could have went differently too if ROG had put the boot down rather than letting Pog tag along.

Really gonna miss Steephill.tv for the Tour. Cyclingnews has gone pay walled too.

Is PCS the best for stage by stage stuff now ?

Also I get confused between the GTs on timing. Is the TdF an estimated 4.30 or 5.30 finish our time ?

Good for official times, and often faster to update than PCS, but you don't get the commentary.

    430 our time normally.

Hope ITV have sorted out some new clobber for Gary Imlach & Millar and wont be dressing them a like a priest & 1980s prisoner again

Cyclingnews paywall as well as many others can be got around if your browser has a reader mode, in my case if it can be used on a page I'll have an icon I can click in the address bar.

The live reports are still free, or at least they were for the giro.

Cyclingnews in incognito mode also does not seem to be blocked.

Trentin for UAE has tested positive for Covid and is replaced by Marc Hirshi. Not exactly a like-for-like replacement in terms of their respective skill sets.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 15,455 ✭✭✭✭retalivity

Thought Hirschi was left out because he had covid and wasn't recovering well! Trentin is a big loss for UAE on the cobbles stage

Lotto-Soudal are yet another team to release a new jersey for the Tour... Although it looks like they just stole the helmets from Astana
