We (2 Adults, 2 Children) are flying with Ryanair from on a Sunday morning at 10am in late July with a checked bag. Obviously, it will be very busy.

Ryanair are offering fast track through their app for €7 each for both myself and my wife. it isnt possible to add it for the kids so I presume they go through free.

Would fast track make any significant difference to our queuing times these days?

This is to be the busiest weekend this year so far, so just be sure to give yourself time as advised by airline at least

Let me know how you get on please. I'm doing the same trip on Wednesday and planned to arrive at 4am too.

Three of us flew out on June 9th, 07.40 Ryanair flight, we purchased the fast track a couple of weeks before flying, we parked at 5am in short term C, by 06.10 we had done bag drop, fast track security & eaten breakfast so I felt it was worth it, you’re flying a bit later after the rush hour but for €14.00……..

Can fast track be bought via Aer Lingus? I don't see an option anyway.

Unfortunately not. Flying with them tomorrow 😭

Great craic flying back from Malaga yesterday. Zipped through security in Spain. All running smoothly. Flight delayed for two because of issues in Dublin though. Pilot made up good time on the flight, but lost it all again when there was nobody available in DUB to bring the steps to the plane. 40 minutes sitting on the tarmac.

What time of day was your flight? We had a similar experience with a 5.30pm from Reus to Dublin last week, delayed nearly 3 hours. Eventually got it from one of the Ryanair ground staff in Reus that same plane is being used across Europe earlier that day so any delays have a knock on effect for later flights. I believe it was Dublin - Malaga, Malaga - Dublin, Dublin - Stansted, Stansted - Dublin, Dublin - Reus and finally our flight from Reus - Dublin delayed nearly 3 hours late. No right to claim compensation because we arrived just under 3 hours late. I believe if it was over 3 hours we could've claimed €250 per passenger on our booking which would've been €1000. I got the impression Ryanair are fine with delays as long as they are under 3 hours

Ryanair specialise in 2 hour 59 minute delays 🙄

Had the steps issue with my Ryanair flight three weeks ago, after a two hour departure delay.

No fast track tomorrow but flying Aer Lingus. Swings and roundabouts

I'm out with Aer Lingus but home on the Reus to Dublin flight with Ryanair, Can't wait😕

With all the criticism Ryanair get in general, one thing I always said was that at least they are usually on time.

But since things have started to return to somewhere near normal post lockdowns, they have been brutal for delays everywhere, not just Dublin. Unless you're getting an early flight in the morning where the aircraft is already in postion from the night before, I'd be expecting to be delayed.

Wish I could agree. Edinburgh, Bristol and Gatwick have been regular destinations of mine for many years since well before Covid and late return flights on Sundays were routinely delayed. Thankfully Aer Lingus is an alternative on all three routes and in tomorrow's example they were cheaper than RA too.

We experienced no delays yesterday in Dublin.

Idiots waiting in the new T1 drop off point for arrivals to come through the Atrium are clogging up the area

Bag drop was a breeze. Very helpful ryanair staff available, despite half the self service machines out of order...

15 mins of zig zag walking up to boarding pass scan, well done to the DAA staff identifying elderly flyers and families with smallies who needed to skip the boarding pass scan queue and with a 3 year old we were also allowed do that. (For some strange reason all the machines stopped working 30 secs after we got through).

The security section was actually a breeze, the staff were in good humour.

So we were through security with 2 hours before our flight. Too much time to kill in a very warm building.

The bars, restaurants and other food areas were mess. Queues, tables not being cleared and the longest queue for a burger king I've ever seen. We sat beside the starbucks and the place is a tip.

Down to T1 gates and less queues at bars etc but it was very busy. Flight left 10 mins late, but we arrived 10mins early to destination

No sign of bags then for 30mins. Idiots

The non clean tables thing is far from a Dublin airport phenomenon. Yes there are people paid to do that but It's constantly amazing to me how many people expect other people to clean up after them. When I eat at a fast food restaurant or cafe or whatever I clear my table after wards. Far too many people think that's beneath them.

T2 report this morning. Security was a shambles, first 2 lanes open on my side then 4 but the additional two opened off the feeder line for the other lane so people in that queue flew and ours dragged. 5 minutes longer than 35 minutes advised.

Very limited food and drink options. Starbucks and Butler's. Upstairs BK and the main restaurant. Ne'er a scone to be got upstairs, they were epic pre Covid but options were hot food or sandwiches with a couple of muffins and tiny pastries. I was embarrassed looking at all the Americans shaking their heads at how poor the offering was. On the plus side queues were very short relative to what I've experienced in T1 recently.

Flew with AL from BER to DUB, they didn't check the size of the 10kg luggage there.

Flying at 6am Tuesday morning. T2. Would 2.30am be sufficient time ? We are doing Bag Drop the evening before so Hand Luggage only.

Need to confirm taxi time today.

    TIA

T2 security doesn't open until 4am but you could go through T1 security and walk to T2 once airside.

    Thanks. That's a good idea.

Do most people do this or do they just queue in T2 for Security to open ?

I've no idea but I've seen people queue up waiting for it to open. I go through what ever terminal has the shortest wait time anytime I fly. Some wouldn't be aware they can go though T1 though and still get to T2 gates. If you're planning to arrive 1.5 hours before it opens that's a long time to stand in a queue waiting for it to open.

Flew into T1 last Friday evening at 7pm. Unfortunately I needed to use the facilities at the baggage carousel, as did my wife. She returned quickly as there was no toilet paper in there. Having negotiated the Krypton Factor obstacle course that is the luggage all over the hall (so much for the 'do not leave baggage unattended' announcements). The bathroom itself was absolutely filthy. When I finally got to a urinal I had to stand with my legs 1m apart due to whatever the liquid all over the floor was. Turned around to leave and there was a pair of underpants on the floor. In the middle of the bathroom. Naturally not a person to be found to report this to. I really can't believe no heads have rolled in that place.

I don't buy the 'staff shortage' rubbish either. I flew in from Girona where there are also staff shortages but the airport and its toilets were absolutely spotless.

So security took you 40 min instead of 35 and therefore you call it a shambles? - Hope you don't go though Schipol any time soon.

As for the food offerings and "what about the "americans" "elderly" "children" " vulnerable"" (delete as appropriate for the sensationalism factor), will you get over it. The airports in the USA are experiencing worse issues. Logan airport (Boston) and JFK have had it particularly bad with cancellations, luggage issues and believe it or not, staff shortages in food outlets. (5 second google will give you the details)

Travel will not be a doddle this year. Expect delays wherever you go and if you are using the toilets, please don't piss and sh1t on the floor.

Baggage at carousel in T1 was mayhem today. People waiting 2 hours for luggage to come out from flights. Several hundred people just standing there with no staff in sight.

2.30 is far too early, you have no bag drop so wilL go straight to security. Based off most recent days you will be average 30 mins max 45, and T2 security doesn’t open to 4 anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,672 ✭✭✭VG31

Yes by arriving at 2.30 all you'll achieve is standing stationary in a queue for 1.5 hours. I wouldn't arrive until just before 4. Tuesday is also the quietest day of the week.

I'm flying to the UK from T2 at 6:30am on Thursday with no bags to check in; I'm only 10 minutes from the Airport but do I really need to get there at 4am though ffs? 🤬

If you need to be there by 4am, then it is irrelevant whether you live 10 minutes away or are living in Dingle. Consider yourself lucky you don't have to leave home at 3am as I would if I were on your flight (and I live in Dublin btw)
