Tipperary Couple Dead

( Do neighbours, family relatives or Gardai do any checks, dead for a year, RIP)

The bodies of an elderly man and woman have been removed from a house in rural south Tipperary where they were found yesterday afternoon.

The remains of the two people may have gone undiscovered in the home for more than a year.

The house is 4km outside Cloneen.

It is believed the man and women were a couple and originally from England.

However, confirmation of their identities may take some time and could depend on DNA sampling and dental records.

Members of the Garda Technical Bureau have been carrying out a forensic examination.

If you've no friends / family to request a welfare check, the Gardai won't make one without a reason. In this case the assumption that they'd gone to the UK likely stopped any acquaintances getting concerned for a long while.

Why would the guards do a check if it wasn't requested? Do u want guards going around randomly checking every household in Ireland?

It's a very sad situation. Horrible to think of and it could happen to anyone without family or friends to check on them.

Could easily happen.

Plenty of places don't like blow-ins, wouldn't be in any rush to make acquaintances of people new (ie less than 40 years) in the area.

Very sad......my first thoughts were "postman, electricity meter reading guy, census guy??????" Nope, nobody..... find it terribly sad.

I heard that apparently people believed that they were gone back to England. Very sad news.

Stories like this crop up occasionally, there was a case in the UK I think where someone was undiscovered for years. It's unusual for 2 bodies to be found though, hopefully no foul play involved.

RIP to the couple, it's very sad that they weren't missed.
