A pet day today, tomorrow back to the dreary June.

Finally a cracking day. 20C, unbroken sunshine all day. I couldn't ask for better.

15.5 hours of sunshine at Dublin Airport makes it sunniest day here since July 2018. 27 June 2019 also had 15.5 hours.

Made very slow progress today but better wind out there now with boats probably beam reaching or flying their kites especially as they round Belmullet. The smaller boats making inroads overall but the leading boats making better speed now as they gybe off the NW, N coast . I see the older French boat Ben Duick VI ( Ketch built in 1973 , clocked up about 300,000 miles ) had enough tacking around in light airs off Dingle Bay and turned around and headed back to France at around 22.00 last night, think it is heading for Lorient, bit to go yet.

Best day of Summer yesterday. Wall to wall sunshine. Meath. Woke for sunrise earlier but decided not to bother with Hill of Tara for summer solstice as its overcast and dull this morning :(

Funny to see it nearly 24c in Roscommon but only 16c in Sligo a county away yesterday.

Today cloudy but feels warmer. Might get a 19c today.

Sunny in SE but getting brighter here now as 1.6mm of rain has cleared. We probably need that wet spell this weekend though it's been downgraded and totals 30mm for Sligo for 4 days and it was previously at 70mm for us so East and South will prob only see 10 or 15mm

Its a dustbowl here in South Wicklow for the want of rain !

We even have a Seabreeze right now its so sunny today (again)

Total cloud cover all morning here in Meath, temperature 18C. Hopefully the sun will poke out later in the afternoon.

You're warmer than we are down here though

Almost gin clear blue sky here but a steady sea breeze cooling us down

Lovely to work out in though

Calm and fairly overcast now with temperatures between 19c and 20c. We had an hour or two of sunny spells earlier in south Laois following an overcast start to the morning. Yesterday's max was 22.6c.

Mount Dillon, Roscommon, is located very close to the Shannon and is pretty much in the middle of the country. It's a world away from Markree, over 70km drive away and located north far from Sligo town along the northwest coast.

As the crow flies, the distance from Mullingar to Dublin Airport is not too dissimilar. During high pressure scenarios in the summer (even more so in the first half of summer even the sea is cooler), there can be very large differences in temperature between the two locations.

All in all acceptable day here. Bright with some sunshine and 17c. Not constant mist that was forecast. There's very little active rainbands near Ireland so anything that's coming is small amounts.

Jet might reinvigorate at end of week though.

That frontal trough that MT talked about in todays forecast seems to have stalled over Dublin based on the animated Sat images and its Blue Skies all the way down the coast from Dun Laoghaire down to waterford.

Not a peep of sunshine in Dublin 7. But still pleasantly warm

Have not seen the sun once today in NCD.

We cant complain though yesterday was unreal.

I thought things were brightening up about 2 hours ago but no joy, I think this blanket of cloud is down for the day.

Sun finally starting to poke through now in Meath. Patches of blue now appearing through the clouds.

edit: and it's back to solid cloud.

Today marks the longest day of the year, everywhere in Ireland sees 17 hours of daylight, letterkenny will see the brightest for longest with 17hrs 28mins, sadly from here evenings will gradually get darker followed by mornings 😔
