Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back a page or two to re-sync the thread and this will then show latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Running charging cable underground?

    Hi,

Our car parking space is in an awkward location relevant to the fitted car charger on the house. At the minute I have a 10m cable that I snake from the house around a wall on the property to the car itself.

Does anyone know if its okay to leave the charging cable in the charger, lift some cobble lock on the pathway and run the charging cable under the wall separating the car park from the charger? I can then holster the end of the charger right beside my car

I assume I would need to put it in some PVC pipe to run the cable in whilst its under ground? Picture of the rough layout of the situation in the picture

Really the best solution would be to install the charger on the parking wall, with the power running to it being a buried SWA

Unless there is a very good reason not to do this, you should just have an electrician remove the charge point and install a junction box in it's place. From there, run armoured under the ground. It should be at least 300mm deep IIRC. Bring the new cable run up to where you want it and have the charger connected to where you were thinking of having the tethered cable mounted.

If you want to keep the charge point on the house side of the wall, you could do this and not need to run the armoured cable under the wall. Just drill a hole through the wall and run the tethered cable through it...mounting it on the car side of the wall.
