    I'm 43,

I hope you're not studying maths with your Mayo buddies at college.

    Will they come on ticketmaster?

You could be right. It almost got me because there's hardly any tickets left on TM now and practically none with 2+ seats in a row. unless you wanted to be behind the goals. I was close to pulling the trigger on around row H in one of the sections of Hogan/Cusack upper tier near the corner.

I'm not particularly of the opinion that Derry are now the real deal. They have beaten 3 really good teams on paper but Tyrone, Monaghan and Donegal have been pretty awful this year.

    Id agree,

It's a whole different story trying g to play their game in Croker.I hope they can adapt to the pitch.

In Armaghs case I really hope they can deal with the hope and expectation which is new to those players I suppose.

It's set up nicely for Galway now and I'd expect them to play either Kerry or Dublin in the final however there might be one or two more twists in the championship yet.

This looks to be quite a decent shout despite my pessimism. Saw today that apparently 70k has been sold for Sunday already with 60k for Saturday.

Looks like you wont be far off and I would never have predicted it. Fair play

ha, i think mayo have more of a chance than Galway. I’d put Derry on equal grounding with Galway and Armagh have more of a chance than Gaillimh, with Clare last.

galway have done nothing significant in recent times to suggest anything else, and there is a lot of discontent in the county with Joyce at the helm. He could be gone after this year if they’re beat next day out.

they didn’t win Connacht due to them being massively better than mayo anyway that’s for sure.

but hey you never know, you could be right! This time last year nobody thought Tyrone would win it or mayo would reach the final

One of Galway, Derry, Armagh and Clare will be in the Final.

Mayo must beat Kerry and either Dublin or Cork.

Galway and Armagh are D1 teams next year . While you might consider bother Armagh and Derry better than Galway it's not by much and Galway would not unduly fear either

    Galway v Dublin final.

And by sheer dint of their big day experience, probably a Dublin win.

For sure if it was a game between Mayo and Galway in Croke Park with most of the Mayo players back from injury my money would be on Mayo. But that can only happen now if Mayo beat Kerry and then go on to beat Dublin, thats too much of an ask but you never know!

I wouldnt bet on Mayo beating London in an All Ireland Final

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,050 ✭✭✭HBC08

Yes being a possible all ireland final brings extra baggage for them,I don't think you'll find anyone arguing otherwise.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,257 ✭✭✭bcklschaps

Yes, Bookies have it that way 👍

    My predictions.

Derry will have celebrated long and hard but just might have enough to overcome Clare just....

    Galway will "ambush" over-hyped Armagh

Kerry will beat Mayo (God help us 🙏)

    Dublin will absolutely batter Cork

    Semi's

    Galway will beat Derry/Clare

    Dublin will beat Kerry

    FINAL

    Dublin to beat Galway

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,128 ✭✭✭Fattybojangles

I'd be the opposite on Galway I think they are massively over hyped they were steeped to beat Mayo first day out if Mayo could kick the ball straight they'd have won handy enough and they weren't overly impressive against a poor Roscommon team who lost to Clare next time out. Armagh win for me.

Great to see such big crowds forecast no doubt Armagh are bringing a huge crowd down and Derry as well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,266 ✭✭✭FullBack Jam

I would agree Fattybo. Armagh have proved themselves. Galway have been a Mayo team which was laden with injuries and even with may of those back now, are still nowhere near the main contenders. And Roscommon are always flakey. Blow hot and cold.

I know Galway have the easier side of the draw, but I don't see them anywhere near an All-Ireland final. They have 4, maybe 5 good players. Armagh have a much better balanced team, are much stronger and physical and have excellent forwards who are confident and can score from distance. And of course have Rian O'Neill. I would love to see him get player of the year. It's very possible if he put in a good show against Galway (which I think he will), and then against the winners of Derry or Clare. He's in an All Ireland then and all to play for. 12/1 at the moment for player of the year.

I think Kerry Dublin in one semi final and Galway Derry in the other.

Kerry and Dublin for obvious reasons I think they are way ahead of the rest.

Galway because at least they won their province. Armagh didn't do that in what was a poor provincial championship up north. Armagh beaten by Donegal, got an early goal against them the last day and then proceeded to get batteted by them untill the black card incident which changed the game. They play some lovely football but they have a lot of questions to answer yet and they will be asked those questions from now on.

Clare are very game but limited especially without Cillian Brennan and I expect Derry and Rory ball to come out of that, hopefully after a tight contest.

I think Galway will then account for Derry the other semi is hard to call and I would give a hesitant nod to Dublin.

Galway have a great tradition in finals and have the forwards to win them. I go for them to shock Dublin in the final.

Great tradition means nothing. The ghosts of the 1930s or whenever can't play the match for ya and neither can any other retired Galway player.

I can't imagine the All Ireland champions are gonna come from anywhere other than the Dublin side of the draw.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,011 ✭✭✭ShamNNspace

Arry they gave us no chance in 98, Mickos Kildare already beat dublin, meath and Kerry on the way to Croke park, they went home with their tails between their legs Maguire went west, 2001 Meath beat reigning champions Kerry in the semi, Kerry only scored 5 points, 1 in the second half nailed on certainties for the final, they were beaten out the gate maguire went west again, never mind 2000 if the ref played the allotted injury time, Kerry were on the ropes the first day theres a good chance maguire would have headed west then too.... Tradition means plenty mark my words, both the tradition of winning and its ugly twin the tradition of losing 😉

So ye had a good team in the late 90s early 00s and you think that means ye will beat the rump of the greatest team of all time in a final.

Galway are very much outside bets in this championship.

As they were in 98 and the early 2000's..all Ireland finals take on a life of their own in the end, they're a different beast than the matches that brought them there, there are no certainties when it comes to AI finals whoever gets there "rump" of the greatest team of all time or not

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,768 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

Absolute bollx. Galway had a good team back then and winning was not the fairytale you make it out to be.

If finals "take on a life of their own" how do the big teams keep winning them across all sports. Why do bookies get it right so often.

Finals are usually between 2 of the best teams which can make them close but to say Galway who are 50/50 to make it past the QF will beat Dublin or Kerry cause of "history" is laughable.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,380 ✭✭✭Large bottle small glass

You are not wrong but you need top players who perform on the day.

20 odd years ago, ye had Donnelan, Fallon, Kevin Walsh, Joyce, DePaor; do ye have players off that caliber now? Genuine question.

I'd love to see ye win, that side from 20 odd years ago was one of the nicest teams I saw play football

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,011 ✭✭✭ShamNNspace

You're misrepresenting what I wrote there and probably deliberately so, did I write that Galway WILL beat Dublin or Kerry?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,768 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

Galway have a great tradition in finals and have the forwards to win them. I go for them to shock Dublin in the final.

Doesn't matter if you used the word "shock" you said you think Galway will win the final.

Or are you now saying you think Dublin are more likely to win ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 470 ✭✭rogerywalters

You literally went for them to beat dublin. - oops sorry not you

Winning in 98 was that fairytale. Saying they were a great team after the fact is easy to do but before a ball was thrown in in the 1998 championship very few outside of Galway gave us a chance. Even winning a Connacht was a slim chance with the previous years All Ireland Finalists Mayo in the first round.

Sure even the final Kildare were 4/9 with Galway 9/4. All Kildare had to do was turn up.
