I'm only presuming that if they're long term JSA they'll qualify for fuel allowance later this Winter but maybe I'm wrong ??

The large weekly amount of social welfare is because the family is large , ditto children's allowance for 6 kids . It adds up . No rent will be paid as this house is through IPAS which provides accommodation for asylum seekers ....but utility bills will have to be paid.

No offence but your pal is a fool for putting up with that sh1t. Put them out on the side of the road if they're wrecking the place, and I'd be charging market rents if nigh on €4k is going in there in SW payments.

I believe they are receiving SWA, not a jobseekers payment based on reports and no, they would not be eligible for FA but of course that means nothing in terms of what's going on.

It's likely your friend will get the government payment of €400 pm month being legislated for at the moment its also being backed dated to date people took refugees in 🤔

I quoted you directly, with your name on the quote (rather than your habit of pulling quotes from different posts absent the posters names). You have assigned statements or points of view to me, that I didn't make.

I took objection of your accusation of another poster lying, when all they did was stated their opinion. Just like you have done, but I suspect you wouldn't like if I'd accused you of lying above, either about your opinions, or the assigning of such statements to me.

So.. I think I'll leave it at that because I don't expect we're going to improve from where we stand now.. the discussion seems to be sliding towards the less than friendly posture.

You might want to review your post. It’s very much wrong. Amounts, entitlements, etc.

Did they leave their free prams on the bus?

My friends aunties brothers neighbours cousin told me some fairy tales too 🤣

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Wait hang on. You dont know the truth. You're making assumptions and presumptions and presenting this as the truth even though you haven't a clue whats true. 🙄

    Edit

I went back and looked at your figures @[Deleted User] - As @[Deleted User] said your figures are completely wrong. Almost all of what you are saying about this family is false; the figures you claim they are claiming, the benefits you claim they are claiming.

Exceptional and Urgent Needs payments are made all the time.

They may include payments towards car repairs, children's buggies, etc.

    These happen all the time.

Just talking to the neighbour out the back there having a smoke.

He has two women in from the red cross. Never even knew myself. Haven't seen anyone in or out. Telling me all was well.

He's an oul lad, wife died a few years back so has a plenty of room.

But this morning he said they went to him saying they aren't comfortable sharing the bathroom with a man. He said he just looked at them and there was dead silence and he said ok. That was it.

There's only one jacks in the gaff so don't know where he's supposed to go. He said all day he feels a bit weird. I reckon he's walking around the house now feeling like a predator or something the poor chap

I didn't know what to say to him, Anyone any advice for the man? What does he say here? 🤷

Hopefully he comes to senses and tosses them out on their holes

Are you being serious, that's utter claptrap.

The payment as its described is an exceptional needs payment and certainly does not pay towards car repairs. They May be support given towards Items such as prams, household appliances, Funeral expenses and other things but not towards Rent or mortgage, Utility bills to an extent but Mabs deal with utility companies directly and manage a scheme to help pay towards utility bills.

It is heavily means tested, documentation required and an appointment required with what used to be called CWO.

To suggest it happens all the time and a simple matter of poping down to your local SW office (Eamonn Ryan) is simply preposterous.

If this exceptional needs payment was so easy why are food banks reporting an enormous increase in people (including, fully employed) using their services.

This government will tell us one day there's no magic money tree and the next day tell us, pop down if you need a few bob to the SW office, they are simply talking through their back sides and couldn't give a toss.

    All spin, no substance.

He said he doesn't want to do that, he agreed to a timeframe and he's happy for them to stay on. But just seems a bit of a weird thing to say.

"well go find another place that makes ye more comfortable if its not up to ye're standard"

Helen McEntee probably has a private bathroom or two in her gaff, go move in with her.

Can you go ahead and post legitimate figures? It would be interesting to cross-reference.

Show them the door. That’s what I’d be telling them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,862 ✭✭✭Real Donald Trump

Not much else he can do then I suppose, terrible that he's made to feel that way in his own home. You think they wouldn't mind sharing a bathroom after fleeing a warzone and all 🙄

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,060 ✭✭✭✭road_high

Turf them out on their ungrateful arses ASAP. And if he feels intimidated tell him you’ll stand along side him for moral support. Multiple flights back to Poland and back into Ukraine- off they go.

Can he not just ask them to leave? He’s not legally obliged to house them if it’s not working out. If that’s a true story, what a pair of ingrates.

I’d be showing them the door. They’ve supposedly come from a warzone ffs

Without making any Judgement and I presume vetting was done, but was did your neighbour agree to this arrangement, does he have family you could contact. It just does not sound right at all.

This really doesn't sound like an appropriate situation and I'm sensing these guests are taking over.

Frankly speaking this arrangement needs to end and immediately IMHO.

I am glad that Principals are calling this crap out.

What the hell are this government doing!!!???

They are building serious serious resentment.

We are going to be absolutely crippled.

Some kind of pre assessment should have taken place of how many and exactly what we could afford to offer. Y'know some basic number crunching. Not this opening the flood gates and think after.

My own mother has a saying actually and it’s very apt here -“if you want to be treated like a doormat, you will be”.

It’s an outrageous thing to say and crass insinuation. Cheeky ****

I'm on the Nightshift tonight, I told him to drop into me tomorrow morning and we'll have a chat. I'll see the son during the week and get him to have a chat and see what he thinks.

I'm not being funny 0ph0rce, get your neighbour to report to the Gardai/authorities that the refugees have stated that they wish to move elsewhere due to the fact they have to use the bathroom. Get him to do it tomorrow morning and bring him down to the desk in order to record it.

It took them long enough. These things were pointed out in the first few pages of this thread as far as I can remember! The penny is dropping with the broader public now though. If only those people that were speaking sense all along weren't such cold hearted beings that would question our capacity to facilite these people I sted of just letting them in and dealing with the problems later, I mean what's wrong with these people 😂. Some people just have no foresight, or their own nests are feathered and would prefer to house ukrainians ahead of their own. As the numbers increase.... Tolerance will decrease, it will be a proportionate graph I'd say!

The gardai have better things to be doing than taking spurious complaints about using a toilet.

I think @0ph0rce0 your neighbour needs to speak to the women and ask what they would like to do as a proposed solution. If the only option is a shared bathroom but they dont want this then he will have to say to them its best for all to goto the red cross and find somewhere else.

The Gardai are there to look after the welfare of decent Irish people, and if one of them is being thrown ridiculous demands from a bunch of literal strangers inside his own house and sanctuary, that Irish person has every right to inform the Gardai of such activity, especially if they are in a vunerable state. That's what the Gardai are actually for, to look out for their community. Not for virtue signalling or whatever some virtue signalling cause is in effect for this particular fortnight.
