Car rental prices in Ireland

Been a few years since iv been back and rented a car, but my god the prices have gone through the roof, something that was 400 euros a few years ago is no 1200 euros for a week Are there any alternatives than the main places

I have seen reports that better deals can be got by renting vehicles in Northern Ireland.

If you had family in Ireland . Perhaps after 3 weeks stay would be cheaper to buy a cheap secondhand car. Let them Sell when you go back
