DFS - sale

Hi all I've been looking at a particular couch at the moment it is on 'sale' for the full price it was a few months ago. What I am wondering is does anyone know the best time of the year to get the best price off them? thanks

January and July were usually the best times of the year for furniture sales, but not so sure nowadays if thats still the case.

That's how DFS work. They overcharge, pretend to reduce", then back up, down a bit, up a bit, to the side and then magic out of the air a "after sale price".

Generally they are seen as expensive and overpriced and they spend a huge amount on advertising (customer pays at the end of the day)

Trying to work out when they have a genuine reduction is an impossibility

Has anyone here managed to bargain them down from their tag price? We bought something from them recently and found they wouldn't budge we opted for the credit arrangement as there was no benefit to paying up front.

Didn't bargain them down but at the time the agent said he would honour any discount that subsequently came up which they did

Check the same item from their Belfast store, usually much cheaper. When pricing different options a few years ago there was 10-15% difference between the northern and southern price for the same items in the same "sales"

Couldn't get them down at all in price, ended up with a 3 month delay on the order and they gave me the option to cancel for a refund or else they'd knock off €200 and also give me 4 cushions which were listed at a crazy €50 each on their webpage.

You should maybe visit a proper upholsterer and look in their sales. There are lots of people selling sofa's for the same prices as DFS but they are made with proper frames that last 20-30 years not the chipboard and glue sofas that last 5 mins that DFS make. :D
