Washing Machine melted plastic smell

Despite the dramatic title I don't believe the washing machine is going to burst into flames. The water pump impeller got jammed with an article of clothing (I needed a monkey wrench to pull off the cover). Once cleared I ran the machine again (while monitoring) and it seems fine. Since then it has run a couple of times with no obvious problems, however the machine now smells of melted plastic. An suggestions on how to resolve / any recommendations on private washing machine repair folk?

    Thanks

Just to point out that 100s of thousands or possibly millions of washing machines were recalled because of the high risk of them bursting into flames.

You need to find out what is melting. Could be an electrical part & it could cause a fire. It could be a part you didn't quite fit right is now rubbling against some moving part...

It definitely isn't a part I didn't fit correctly as I haven't replaced anything. The only thing I did was open the door to the water pump and the smell was there before that. Whatever happen I think it has stopped but the smell is just lingering as it smells even when it isn't running. That said, it would be great to get someone out who actually knows what they are doing. Hence seeking the name of a trusted independent
