Spain vs Portugal should be good. Ronaldo is on the bench.

Spain XI: Simon; Azpilicueta, D. Llorente, P. Torres, Alba; Soler, Busquets, Gavi; F. Torres, Morata, Sarabia.

Portugal XI: Costa; Cancelo, Pepe, Danilo, Guerreiro; Fernandes, Moutinho, Otavio; B. Silva, A. Silva, Leao.

Morata gives Spain the lead after a nice counter.

    NI 1-0 down to Greece.

    Lovely goal by Spain.

Leao so close to equalising. Good stop by Simon. Looks like Ronaldo is coming on for the last thirty.

1-1. Ricardo Horta equalises off the bench. Good ball from Cancelo.

Alba misses an absolute sitter. This Portugal keeper Costa doesn't look secure. Surprised he seems to be ahead of Sa and Lopes in the pecking order, unless they're out with injuries.

That was an absolute shocker from Jordi Alba. As bad as you'll see. Free header on an open goal from 6 yards out and he put it wide.

NI's opening game ends in a home defeat to Greece.

Belgium should have parted with Martinez years ago. Wasted a talented generation of players and even they’re in decline now.

Some surprising results this evening. Denmark coming from behind to beat France 2-1. The Dutch getting their first win over Belgium since 1997 with a 4-1 score. Rangnick's Austria winning 3-0 in Croatia.

Superb footwork there. Benzema must be regretting the fact that the World Cup is not in the Summer this year. He’s on fire at the moment. Of course he could still be in November, but you never know. If it was happening this month he’d be a good bet for the golden boot.

Hungary lead England 1-0 via a Szoboszlai penalty. Very soft decision.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,852 ✭✭✭✭blueser

It wasn't a penalty, in my opinion. But England don't really deserve anything from the game (not sure Hungary do either, to be honest). Fairly grim game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,643 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Hungary miss a great chance to make it 2-0, assuming that's onside.

Hungary with a stadium ban for racism were allowed by UEFA to let in 30k children aged 14 and under then those children boo'd the taking of the knee by the England players.

There had to be an adult for every 10 kids or something like that I wouldn't blame just the kids

Wales XI: Hennessy; Amapdu, Rodon, Davies; Roberts, Ramsey, Allen, James, N. Williams; Bale, Moore.

Ukraine XI: Bushchan; Karavayev, Zabarnyi, Matviyenko, Mykolenko; Stepanenko; Yarmolenko, Malinovskyi, Zinchenko, Tsygankov; Yaremchuk.

Massive game. Either Wales reach a first World Cup since 1958, or Ukraine qualify after having had their country invaded. Great atmosphere in Cardiff.

VAR acting the prick again. Switzerland goal ruled out for a ridiculous handball

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,643 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Ronaldo adds to his international goal tally. 116 now.

    Make that 117.

    Switzerland getting bummed...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,285 ✭✭✭fyfe79

    Portugal playing some stuff.

Strange team - they'll lose 1-0 to Cyprus, or whoever, next...
