Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Well, the website doesn't appear to want to take a newsletter subscription or test drive enquiry from me at the moment. Not a great start to my relationship with Polestar.

You can configue on their UK website, but there are no orders being taken.

Definitely gonna try stretch to one of them when the time comes. Would love if you could spec the performance pack without the adjustible suspension. I like to saunter, but would love the bigass fancy calipers!

I requested a test drive but got no email response.

Their website is poor vs even a budget brand like Dacia as its trying to be too fancy

I requested a test drive and got an email a few days later saying no test drives available yet.

why put it on the Irish website if that the case?

no prices for the extras on the Irish website either.

theres actually been a bit of a change to trims for MY 23 that’s kicking in so I presume we’ll get these changes when they finally have cars.

Is this Polestar the reason the new extended range S60 doesn't seem to be on sale in Ireland, looks like the Volvo would be a lot more expensive going by UK prices.

Strangely I got an email from Polestar this morning asking to register for test drives again. When I put in my details this time, it processed (or whatever) ie. it didn't come back saying there are no test drives in your location.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,291 ✭✭✭meep

I tried again this morning and it went through, but just got the 'thanks - we'll contact you when we have test drives available' message on screen.

I find it very odd that they are making a big marketing push in Ireland (demo day splashed about on various YouTube channels, display advertising all over websites etc.) but don't have the information let alone product to back it up.

It seems a lot of brands have very poor, or at least quite variable, integration between online and reality. For example, I filled a pre-launch 'keep me informed' for Kia EV6 and have heard ner a peep since. On the other side, I filled a Nissan enquiry form about the Ariya a few weeks ago and had a genuinely interested and helpful sales rep from my closest dealership on the phone to me within the hour.

Has anyone received an email about a test drive yet?

Did anyone attend the event in Cork? I thought there was supposed to be one in Dublin on the 8th May??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,821 ✭✭✭Old diesel

Did they actually announce the locations, times and dates for that roadshow.

I requested a test drive and haven't heard a word.

Bit stupid on their part as I've since worked out that I can own TWO EVs instead of one Polestar.

If I was buying a Polestar id have to trade in my car and add money on top. All very normal...

But instead I can keep my current car and buy something for under 30 k straight deal instead.

Oh well - the idea was fun while it lasted

Have they updated their pricing to include the €5k grant? The prices seem different now, with the Long Range Dual Motor looking like a complete outlier now due to not receiving the grant.

    ..............................................Price........Range (WLTP)*....Power....0-100 km/h

    01.Standard range..Single motor...€49,500....440kms*.............224hp....7.4sec

    02.Long range........Single motor...€53,245....540kms*.............231hp....7.4sec

    03.Long range........Dual motor.....€61,990....480kms*.............408hp....4.7sec

If their marketing is an indication of how they are going to do business in Ireland then I can’t see a great future.

since I filled in a request from for a test drive, I am bombarded with ads from them but got told on email no test drives available. Their pricing is incomplete and there was no follow up from them except for the polestar newsletter sent to my email that directs me back to the same homepage.

    very poor.

it’s like they committed to a marketing campaign without having any product availability or test drive infrastructure organised.

I didn't even get an email to confirm my test drive request.

Looks like their behind the scenes tech in terms of their website related communication is having issues.

Shouldn't be the case given that theyve been established elsewhere for sometime and thus the tech should be at 100 percent

Actually the Polestar emails are buried in the promotions emails that I usually just ignore because its (usually) just hotels I've stayed in and Easons etc.

Got the same "no test drives available" that Carsfan2 got

It appears that they are taking €1000 deposits now on a selection of pre-specced versions of the car - none of which come under the €60k threshold to qualify for the grant. Unless I'm reading it wrong, there doesn't seem to be an option right now to configure the car exactly how you want it?

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 39,781 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gumbo

Correct. €61k is the lowest I seen of the preconfigured cars.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,563 ✭✭✭eagerv

Looks to be a good car for the money, pity it's outside the 5K Grant, but 408hp for the money aint too bad....🙂

  • Registered Users Posts: 205 ✭✭OCD

You can configure it and price it, just not put the order through. Shame the plus pack just kills the grant by 315 euro.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,351 ✭✭✭✭TitianGerm

I wonder if enough people emailed them would they drop the price to 49,999? Surely they'd sell far more cars that way.

  • Registered Users Posts: 205 ✭✭OCD

But then you add different alloys and/or a different colour than the free black option and you're back to square one.

Looks like same as Tesla. You can have the lowest version and the grant and maybe one small addition or after that you lose the grant.

Doesn't matter they'll have no issue selling cars the issue will be supplying the demand therefore they'll maximize margins.

For anyone interested the 2 main “Private” financing options available are:

    (1) PCP at 4.9% APR

    (2) HP at 5.9% APR

    both via BoI.

    9.1kWp (5.6E/3.5W)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,574 ✭✭✭carsfan2

The preconfigured cars look to me to be MY22 cars not the latest specs.

What's the story if you have a trade in?

  • Registered Users Posts: 175 ✭✭alfa_aficionado

They’re not accepting trade-ins at the moment. They say they’re still working on a partner for same.

    9.1kWp (5.6E/3.5W)

The grant'll be gone before the cheap ones are available at this rate

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,574 ✭✭✭carsfan2

They’re going to be rare on our roads with their current business model.

They should have sorted all these things out before launching the marketing campaign.

I would have thought Volvo dealers are the obvious choice for taking trade ins.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 633 ✭✭✭clevtrev

they had 21 cars on the preconfigured list last week - 18 now - not exactly selling like hotcakes. It is a lot of money to pay over for a brand with no track record even if Volvo own 50% of it

Polestar now offering Dublin test drives according to emails me and my brother got.

    So things are moving along.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,303 ✭✭✭ionapaul

Taking a test drive in this tomorrow morning in Dublin. Looking forward to it!

Drove it this morning in Sandyford; lovely, lovely car to drive. Think I was in the dual motor, longer range spec. The map behind the steering wheel and the big central tablet screen are cool. Definitely a bit smaller than the Volvo XC40 Recharge I drove recently. Overall the quality was great (much better than I'm used to anyhow), felt very premium coming from a 2016 Peugeot 2008.

Chap I was dealing with seemed relatively confident that the shipment of cars they have been promised will arrive in late August, but of course couldn't really make a true commitment.

Need to have a think about this vs the XC40 Recharge I've a deposit down on (or rather the company, will be a company car so the €60K limit isn't important excepting the fact that the lower the cost the better for my wallet via BIK). The Volvo isn't due to be here until late September/early October, but who knows with the current lead times and delays.

Whole thing is a bit of a joke, why launch when there was nothing to show and its just so difficult to engage with them.

Is it Spirit Motors in Sandyford who are doing this or do they have their own showroom?
