Waterford Viking marathon (half)

It is a slightly different route than previous years, as it now starts and finishes in Waterford centre (rather than finish out at WIT Arena and need to drive or catch race transport back)

Elevation profiles are on the route maps above - honestly they look hillier on paper than I remember them being in real life... Very enjoyable run, lovely scenery along the river, it's one of my favourite events.

Haven't done the Half myself, but the full looks very similar to 2019 route I have from my Garmin (https://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/2563206832), just some minor tweaks to accommodate the finish line change, so assume the half would be similarly similar..

There are runs that are flatter, but there are runs that are MUCH hillier.

Personally, I think this one is a good balance. Fast and flat is grand if you're gunning for a fast time, but they're tough as your legs get no break. I like when a course is slightly undulating like this one. Lovely scenery too, and usually well organised.

Just remember that you need to go to registration tomorrow or Saturday to collect your race number. I don't think there's number collection at the start (emails mention only Fri/Sat)
