    Fair play to him.

For a 17 year old he is remarkably mature.

He is the first footballer in the UK since Justin Fashanu did in 1990 to come out as gay crazy that it has taken 32 years for it to happen.

Well done him and I really hope he has a strong support network around him as I am sure he will get some hate on social media just hope the love he gets out does that.

Also I hope he makes a fortune from sponsorship as well at 17.

It shouldn't be news but it is and hugely positive. If a 17 year old can do it, higher profile older players should follow. Fair play to Jake that took guts.

If someone doesn't want to share this information they shouldn't be pressured into it. Good for him though.

Fair play to him, seems to have a mature head on his shoulders. Also it looks like the club and his teammates have been brilliant in supporting him and his decision.

Hopefully it serves as an example to other clubs and players about what’s possible.

I don't think its other players that are the problem so much as the keyboard warriors.

Any bad performance or mistake or goal will undoubtedly result in a flood of homophobic drivel on social media from Blackpool fans (or opposition fans if he has the gall to score against them).

Daniels will righlty have his supporters but there's still that idiotic contingent who will use this as material against them. The education of respectful human beings is the burning issue.

I made the mistake of looking down the Twitter thread earlier this morning. So many clubs and players coming out to offer their support but a lot of religious videos and weird stuff popping up too. Bizarre how people act online. Hopefully he can laugh at those idiots and get on with banging goals in for his club.

And in other news, there is some irony in the fact that the player who refused to play for PSG with their rainbow coloured numbers on the backs of their jerseys to mark the upcoming International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia is Gueye.

Very brave young lad. Takes some guts to do that, then to speak with such maturity. I was genuinely surprised he was 17.

got an eye for goal too by the looks of it

Homophobic abuse is not much different to racial abuse imo and any fans or onfield rivals that resort to that kind scumbaggery should face the same kind of sanctions for either.

It wont just be social media. He will get it in stadiums too probably

    Yes

It's the neanderthal nature of soccer support, in general not just online, that has prevented this from happening earlier in the sport.

If you wanna know how brave a move this was for anyone to make, let alone a 17 year old kid just breaking into the game, in the same week experienced international household names are out here defending Idrissa Gueye's homophobia. A huge well done to Jake!

Fair play to them both with the amount of abuse they get from being referees alone it must have been a tough desision to come out publicly

Scottish referees Craig Napier and Lloyd Wilson come out as gay

Two Scottish referees have become the first to come out publicly as gay.

Category one officials Craig Napier and Lloyd Wilson follow footballers Josh Cavallo and Jake Daniels in coming out.

Napier said he was inspired by the players' decision and believes it is time "to see the climate change" within the sport.

"It's something that I never thought I'd be sitting here doing," he told the Scottish FA.

"It's something I've obviously lived with for a long time. It's been a difficult journey to get to this point. It's really important that people like me are willing to sit here and do this.

"I don't think this needs to be a news story but I think at the moment, it really does because we need to see the climate change so that people do feel that they can be their true self and live happily and comfortable in their own skin. And then that needs to transcend into football."............
