Good morning ladied and lads of boards admins / tech people

Is there anything that can be done about the current sigs that have cropped up since the migration ,I remember years back having a sig removed as it was slightly larger than allowed no real issues there , but since the migration peoples sigs have definitely gotten larger and more pronounced ,I'm mainly on mobile on a 6in + screen and regularly seeing more sigs than text sometimes , pretty much on par with pop up ads ,

I don't remember people sigs being that intrusive on a pages premigration,

Is this something that can be looked at or adjusted ,

Here's an example screenshoted earlier , nothing against the posters themselves again only one example of the problem

Yes, there are rules regarding signature dimensions and sizes in terms of maximum kb allowed. The signature rules state that “Images totalling up to 500 pixels wide, 125 pixels tall and 30k in size.” The full signature rules can be found in the link at the bottom of this post.

We usually invite users to change their own signatures if they breach signature rules because they may not be aware they are in breach. If they do not change their own signatures voluntarily, it is removed and replaced with “sig2big”, but we would much rather people comply with the rules themselves.

In the cases highlighted, @Absolute Zero your signature is 300x168 so this is 43px too high and should be adjusted to comply with the rules above.

Also, @Annasopra your signature is 980x185 so this is 480px too wide and 60px too high and should be adjusted to comply with the rules above.

Finally, @TheChrisD your signature is showing as as being 1000x250 so this is 500px too wide and 125px too side and should be adjusted to comply with the rules above.

I don't know where you're looking from, but from my view of boards, signature images are automatically scaled by Vanilla to the "small" embed size. Which in my browser, is scaling mine down to 357×89px in my style-adjuster; and 250×62px in the default boards style.

In particular, even the signature options when changing it specifically says "Use up to 1 image. Images will be scaled to a maximum height of 125px."

So if anything, this is showing that the mobile styling needs to be modified to further reduce the scale of signature images.

Hey @Spear can you take a look the signature issues that TheChrisD is seeing. Some people are seeing a smaller version of the original 1000x250 sig size?

The displayed image is scaled down by Vanilla. Opening the root image on it's own shows the full size image.

What platform and browser are you using? Any addons that might alter things, like greasemonkey? And mobile or desktop?

I'm just using mobile chrome with no add on's ,

I have noticed that if I click desktop from the settings menu the sigs aren't as obvious , looks like easiest option is switching to mobile desktop ? wouldn't be the most tech savvy when it comes to software and add-ons
