GC riders take a break and the sprinters take over. If Stage 3 is anything to go by this will be a fairly boring affair with the usual excitement at the end. I suspect MvdP won't be riding for his team mate this time now as all he has to ride for is the Ciclamino so surely he goes for the victory here? Also if Girmay's performance on Stage 3 is anything to go by it does look like he can compete with the big boys when it comes to sprinting. Anyway the two big guns are the expected favourites - Ewan and Cavendish and I can't help but show my bias here and hope Ewan can do it. I just can't like Cavendish especially since he decided to sell his team mate down the swanny the other day despite winning. What happens if he loses? Despite all this I've backed Demare for the value.

    Betting

    Caleb Ewan 9/4

    Mark Cavendish 9/2

    Biniam Girmay 5/1

    Matthieu Van Der Poel 7/1

    Arnaud Demare 9/1

    Fernando Gaviria 10/1

    Giacomo Nizzolo 14/1

    Phil Bauhaus 17/1

    Magnus Cort Nielsen 22/1

What did Cavendish say about his teammate the last day? I missed that stage. Every time I see him he's being a gowl about something. Seems to be the same in victory and defeat, a pompous gowl when he wins and a bitter gowl when he loses.

He complained that Mauro Schmid went missing when he was supposed to help with the sprint train. A young guy who could do without being singled out. Kelly and McEwen were not impressed.

Basically complained that Schmid didn't do any turns at the front, left ballerini doing 10k on his own, even though he won.

I just can't shake the feeling that "nice guy Cav" is an image thing rather than real. Much as I like him using his position to push womens cycling/ sport.

    Seems it's Nibali day today.

Cav is a prat and suffers from total self absorption

He is a professionally paid cyclist. He would do his pull if he was given **** behind closed doors afterwards. Absolutely no need to call him out on TV.

Yeah that was for the bus not the interview. I admit I got a sense of satisfaction seeing him fall off the back today and even with 6 lads around him not make it back on and have to sit up. Pity Ewan wasn't in front of him but he's has his crash hasn't he.
