Painting interior new build with acrylic primer.

Hi all,

Due to excessive quotes, I am applying primer myself on freshly plastered wall which has had nearly a month to dry.

Is Leyland emulsion paint Ok to use? I would need to mix with water. It is much cheaper to buy in Screwfix.

I was offered Tiqurilla paint at 44 euro per 9 litre tub. This sounds good too.

Acrylic primer is 70 euro a tub outright.

Would anyone have any suggestions as to what I could do? So many suggestions my head is beginning to melt!

to seal newly plastered walls i always use pva adhesive mixed with water and brush in all the edges/corners and then roll with short pile roller,if you have any more questions ill be happy to help

Two people told me to use:

So not too sure which is which here!

hi,for a base coat either will be fine,(thats after walls are sealed,and thats if you want to do it proper,and get a long lasting finish)then 2 top/finish coats,i would use soft sheen for kitchens,bathrooma,hall/landings ,sitting rooms ect,matt for bedrooms is fine,ceiling paint for ceilings,satin or gloss for woodwork,or if your varnishing,either clear gloss or satin,anymore questions just ask

PVA, Mixed with paint and water for the first coat to seal the wall. 1 Part PVA to 2 Parts Paint, 2 Parts water. about €25 for 5 Litres at your local Builders Merchant.
