Tine v chain harrow

Looking to buy a harrow to smooth out poached/ lumpy ground and hard slurry etc. I was going to buy a chain harrow, but I saw a lad using a tine harrow recently and it looked like a better job. There are more expensive so I want to make sure I make the right choice. I have a wagtail spreader that I can use to spread grass seed so just need a harrow. Thanks.

Tine harrow is a better job as you can adjust the aggressiveness of the tines depending on the ground conditions

Thanks Reggie. Any brand recommendations? The tine Jarmet harrow seems to be good value, I think they're a Polish make.

Palatine were a very good make if they can be found. Don't think they are made anymore. Rakeman aren't a bad make either. The stronger the tines the better as in the mm thickness

I just bought a Jarmet Hybrid harrow.. Not easy to get.. Its a chain harrow and a tine harrow in one. They do combi one but its neither one or the other in mt opinion. The hybrid as I say is both. Ive bought a seeder for it and was done with lad today to weld a bracket on it for it as it dosnt have a place on it like the rakeman 3000

Thanks Gerry. I saw the Jarmet combi for sale up North alright but I was worried there weren't enough tines on it. Whites of Bocombra sell them. They look light and basic compared to the paletine or rakemann

the first one is link there is the combi.. wouldnt recommend it.. its neither one or the other

yes mine is like the one in the second picture but shorter its the 4 meter I got galvinsed. I bought mine up the north. No one had one down here and had no interest in gettin me one either. One place would get me one but it didnt have the extra tines on the back. I bought mine for €3300 I was qouted €4500 in the south so with the spare 1k I bought the seeder. Its a right good heavy machine. Good strong tines.
